Family Conference in Aguascalientes, Mexico/Conferencia de la Familia en Aguascalientes, Mexico

After being in San Luis three days, on Thursday through Friday I went to Rincón de Romos, Aguascalientes to preach for Missionary José Padilla.  This is the second time I preach a family conference in this church and I am pleased to know the Lord is using this man to build a great church there.  God has given him a group of people who are doing what they can to reach that city.  I admire Pastor Padilla very much.  His two boys have muscular dystrophy and in spite of all the obstacles this man keeps serving God and more impressive is to see his boy David not let his illness stop him from helping his Dad in the ministry.  Several churches were represented in the conference.  I preached Thursday and Friday nights and taught a class on the family on Friday and Saturday mornings.  We had a great time and many decisions were made.  If there is a conference that’s desperately needed in our movement is family conferences.  The devil has launched every wicked missile against the families knowing that if he can weaken them he can weaken the church.  Let’s pray for our families especially for the sake of those coming behind us.

Después de estar en San Luis tres días, el jueves a viernes fui a Rincón de Romos, Aguascalientes a predicar para el Misionero José Padilla.  Esta es la segunda vez que predico una conferencia de la familia en esta iglesia y me da gusto saber que el Señor está usando a este hombre para edificar una gran iglesia ahí.  Dios le ha dado un grupo de personas que están haciendo lo que pueden para alcanzar a esta ciudad.  Yo admiro al Pastor Padilla mucho.  Sus dos hijos tienen distrofia muscular y a pesar de los obstáculos este hombre continúa sirviendo a Dios y más impresionante es ver a su hijo David no dejar que su enfermedad le detenga de ayudar a su Papá en el ministerio.  Algunas iglesias estuvieron representadas en la conferencia.  Prediqué el jueves y el viernes en las noches y enseñé una clase el viernes y el sábado en las mañanas.  Tuvimos un gran tiempo y muchas decisiones fueron hechas.  Si hay una conferencia que desesperadamente necesitamos en nuestro movimiento es la conferencia de la familia.  El diablo ha lanzado todo malvado proyectil en contra de las familias sabiendo que si ‘el puede debilitarlas él puede debilitar a la iglesia.  Oremos por nuestras familias especialmente por esos que vienen detrás de nosotros.

Trip to San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Viaje a San Luis Potosi, Mexico

On Monday, February 27^th, I flew to San Luis Potosí, Mexico to preach for my good friend Pastor Pablo Aguilar from the Mount Calvary Baptist Church.  He began this church 8 months ago and already planned a revival conference.  He did an excellent job for the conference and is doing a great work in this city.  I had the opportunity to preach with Dr. Luis Ramos on Monday night.  Dr. Ramos is the Pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in San Luis Potosí – one of the greatest works ever built in Mexico.  I also preached with Pastor Hector Avila from the Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Escobedo, Nuevo Leon near Monterrey.  Pastor Avila pastors a great growing church there.  I also preached for Bro. Ramos one night for his church’s Bible institute with over 200 students enrolled.  The Lord gave us wonderful results in the revival with many decisions made.  On Thursday morning I preached for my good friend, Pastor Jesus Mendez from the Berean Baptist Church.  One of my greatest joys when I go to preach for these men is seeing how the Lord has used me to be a blessing to them and in some cases help them in finding God’s purpose for their lives.  Pastor Mendez then drove me to Rincón de Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexcio – a 2 ½ drive – so that I could preach a family conference for one of our missionaries, Pastor José Padilla.  I’ll tell you more about it in the next post.  Enjoy the pictures from my time in San Luis!

El lunes, 27 de febrero, volé a San Luis Potosí, México para predicar para mi buen amigo el Pastor Pablo Aguilar de la Iglesia Bautista Monte Calvario.  El comenzó esta iglesia 8 meses atrás y ya planeó una conferencia de avivamiento.  El hizo un excelente trabajo para la conferencia y está haciendo una gran obra en esta ciudad.  Tuve la oportunidad de predicar con el Dr. Luis Ramos el lunes en la noche.  El Dr. Ramos es el Pastor de la Iglesia Bíblica Bautista en San Luis Potosí – una de las más grandes obras edificadas en México.  También prediqué con el Pastor Héctor Avila de la Iglesia Bautista Monte Sinaí en Escobedo, Nuevo León cerca de Monterrey.  El Pastor Avila pastorea una gran iglesia creciente ahí.  También prediqué para el Hermano Ramos una noche para el instituto Bíblico de su iglesia con más de 200 estudiantes enlistados.  El Señor nos dio resultados maravillosos en el avivamiento con muchas decisiones hechas.  EL jueves en la mañana prediqué para mi buen amigo, el Pastor Jesús Méndez  de la Iglesia Bautista Fundamental Berea.  Uno de mis grandes gozos cuando voy a predicar para estos hombres es ver como Dios me ha usado para serles de bendición y en algunos casos ayudarles a encontrar el propósito de Dios para sus vidas.  El Pastor Méndez me llevó luego a Rincón de Romos, Aguscalientes, México – un trayecto de 2 ½ horas – para predicar una conferencia de la familia para uno de nuestros misioneros, el Pastor José Padilla.  Les diré más en la próxima entrada que haga.  ¡Disfruten las fotos de mi tiempo en San Luis!

Annual Marriage Seminar/Seminario Anual de Matrimonios

Last night, Thursday and Friday, February 23^rd & 24^th, we held in our church our annual marriage seminar.  This is a seminar my wife and I hold for our church married couples every year.  We had 28 couples attend this year!  We held several sessions with one of them being a split session so that I could talk to the men alone while my wife talked to the ladies alone.  It is always refreshing to all of our couples the teachings they receive during this seminar.  (It is refreshing for my wife and me to prepare the lessons and teach them, if I may add!)  I always get notes and texts from our couples letting me know the appreciation they feel for us taking the time to do this.  Plus it gives us a chance to spend time with our couples alone which sometimes it is very difficult due to our busy schedules.  Then on Saturday night we close the seminar with a couples’ dinner.  This year because of the economy we decided instead of going to a very fancy hotel banquet room to go to an area restaurant and keep it semi formal.  We still had a great time of fellowship and a great dinner plus needless to say all the laughter we enjoyed during the game time with them.  I praise the Lord for the opportunity He has given me to pastor my people.  I am very undeserving of this honor and count it a joy to be their Pastor.  I would like to take this time to thank my lovely wife who has been faithful to me for over 25 years and for supporting me and my ministry in every way.  She has been by my side in the ups and downs of life and I could have never done it without her.  Thank you, sweetheart for loving me and for being faithful!

El pasado jueves y viernes, 23 y 24 de febrero, tuvimos en nuestra iglesia nuestro seminario anual de matrimonios.  Este es un seminario que mi esposa y yo le damos a las parejas matrimoniales de nuestra iglesia cada año.  ¡Tuvimos 28 parejas asistiendo este año!  Tuvimos varias sesiones con una de ellas dividida para que yo les pudiera hablar a los hombres solo mientras mi esposa le hablaba a las damas sola.  Es siempre refrescante para todas nuestras parejas las enseñanzas que ellos reciben durante este seminario.  (¡Es refrescante para mi esposa y para mí preparar las lecciones y enseñarlas, si puedo añadir!)  Siempre recibo notas y textos de parte de nuestras parejas dejándome saber el aprecio que ellos sienten por nosotros tomar el tiempo para hacer esto.  Además nos da la oportunidad para pasar tiempo con nuestras parejas solos lo cual a veces es difícil por cause de nuestras agendas ocupadas.  Luego el sábado en la noche cerramos el seminario con una cena de parejas.  Este año por causa de la economía decidimos en vez de ir a un salón de banquete de un hotel lujoso ir a un restaurante en el área y mantenerlo semiformal.  Como quiera tuvimos un buen tiempo de compañerismo y una gran cena más sin duda toda la risa que disfrutamos en el tiempo de los juegos con ellos.  Yo alabo al Señor por la oportunidad que El me ha dado para pastorear a mi gente.  No soy merecedor de este honor y considero un gozo ser su Pastor.  Quiero tomar esta oportunidad para agradecerle a mi amada esposa por ser fiel a mí por más de 25 años y por apoyarme y a mi ministerio en todo.  Ella ha estado a mi lado en los altos y bajos y no lo hubiese podido hacer sin ella.  ¡Gracias, mi amor, por amarme y por ser fiel!

Last night, Tuesday, February 14^th, David Hernandez and Elsa Torres were engaged.  Elsa is one of our young ladies.  David attends Grandview Baptist Church in Beavercreek, Oregon where Pastor Carlos Flores is the Spanish Pastor.  David and Elsa met in Bible College, and after dating for a few years, they both received the blessing from their parents and Pastors and are now planning to spend the rest of their lives together.  We praise the Lord for His grace and love in helping our young people find God’s will for their lives.  I will have the privilege of performing their wedding this June 16, 2012.  Congratulations David and Elsa!  We love you and thank God for both of you!  We pray the Lord will use you in a very special way.

Anoche, martes, 14 de febrero, David Hernández y Elsa Torres se comprometieron.  Elsa es una de nuestras muchachas.  David asiste a la Iglesia Bautista Grandview en Beavercreek, Oregón donde el Pastor Carlos Flores es el Pastor Hispano.  David y Elsa se conocieron en el colegio Bíblico, y después de unos años, ellos recibieron la bendición de sus padres y sus Pastores y ahora planean pasar el resto de sus vidas juntos.  Alabamos al Señor por Su gracia y amor en ayudar a nuestros jóvenes a encontrar la voluntad de Dios para sus vidas.  Yo tendré el privilegio de auspiciar la boda de ellos este 16 de junio del 2012.  ¡Felicidades David y Elsa!  ¡Les amamos y le damos gracias a Dios por ambos de ustedes!  Oramos para que Dios les use en una manera bien especial.

Last Monday, February 6^th I went to DFW to board my flight to Guadalajara, Mexico.  I preached at the Bible Baptist Church in Villa Corona, Jalisco where Missionary Luis García is the Pastor. Brother García is one of the 50 missionaries we support.  He has been in Villa Corona for 5 years. God has truly blessed this man and his family with a growing church in a very small town and a very catholic town.  I preached there Monday and Tuesday night.  The Lord blessed the revival with many attending, several churches represented and many decisions.  I got to see other missionaries we support.  That is one of the highlights of my trips – when I get to see missionaries we support at the conferences where I preach.  Then on Wednesday I was taken to La Capilla, Jalisco to preach for the fifth time in a row in the Annual Youth Conference at the Mount Sinai Fundamental Baptist Church where Brother Juan Padilla is the Pastor.  Every year the Lord seems to bless even more and the conference once again was a success.  Many churches were present and many decisions by the young people were made.

El pasado lunes, 6 de febrero fui a DFW para abordar mi vuelo a Guadalajara, México.  Prediqué en la Iglesia Bíblica Bautista de Villa Corona, Jalisco donde el Misionero Luis García es el Pastor. El Hermano García es uno de los 50 misioneros que sostenemos.  El ha estado en Villa Corona por 5 años.  Dios verdaderamente ha bendecido a este hombre y su familia con una iglesia que está creciendo en un pueblo bien pequeño y un pueblo bien católico.  Prediqué ahí el lunes y el martes en la noche.  El Señor bendijo el avivamiento con muchos asistiendo, varias iglesias representadas y muchas decisiones.  Pude ver a otros misioneros que sostenemos.  Esta es una de las cosas que más disfruto de mis viajes – cuando veo a misioneros que sostenemos en las conferencias donde yo predico.  Luego el miércoles me llevaron a La Capilla, Jalisco para predicar por quinta vez consecutiva en la Conferencia Anual de Jóvenes en la Iglesia Bautista Fundamental Monte Sinaí donde el Hermano Juan Padilla es el Pastor.  Cada año el Señor parece bendecir aún más y la conferencia una vez más fue un éxito.  Muchas iglesia estuvieron presentes y muchas decisiones fueron hechas por los jóvenes.

This past Wednesday, January 25^th, I flew to Washington DC and was picked up by Brother Aaron Baxter, Assistant Pastor to Dr. Jeff Owens from the Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church in Martinsburg, WV.  I had the honor of preaching their 20^th Annual Missions’ Conference with the theme “Circling the Globe for Christ.”  The Lord met with us in a marvelous way with many decisions to give to faith promise missions and with others surrendering to the mission field.  What an exciting church this is!  Dr. Owens and I have known each other since our days in Bible college and our years working together under Dr. Jack Hyles.  I have had many privileges in my life, but I count preaching at Dr. Owens’ church one of the top ones.  We have a kindred spirit in God’s work and the old-time religion.  Thank you, Dr. Owens, for your influence in my life and your friendship.

Este pasado miércoles, 25 de enero volé a Washington DC y fui recogido por el Hermano Aarón Baxter, Asistente de Pastor del Dr. Jeff Owens de la Iglesia Bíblica Bautista de Shenandoah en Martinsburg, WV.  Tuve el honor de predicar su conferencia anual 20^va de misiones con el tema “Circulando el Globo Para Cristo.”  El Señor se reunió con nosotros en una manera maravillosa con muchas decisiones para dar promesas de fe a misiones y otros rindiéndose al campo misionero.  ¡Que iglesia emocionante es esta!  El Dr. Owens y yo nos hemos conocido desde nuestros días juntos en el colegio Bíblico y nuestros años trabajando juntos bajo el Dr. Jack Hyles.  Yo he tenido muchos honores en mi vida, pero yo considero predicar en la iglesia del Dr. Owens uno de los más altos.  Tenemos un espíritu unido en la obra de Dios y en la religión antigua.  Gracias, Dr. Owens, por su influencia en mi vida y por su amistad.

On January 19-20 our youngest son, Andrés, went to Hot Spings, Arkansas to play basketball in a tournament hosted by the Gospel Light Baptist Church.  It was a tournament of Christian high schools and our son’s school, Grace Christian Academy in Flower Mound, Texas, got third place.  My wife and I decided to go and see our son play and while we were there we had the opportunity to catch up with our friends, John and Kim Smith and their family.  Bro. John and I worked together in Longview, Texas for nearly 10 years before the Lord took us on our separate ways.  The Smiths are dear friends and we had a great time staying at their home for those two days.  Our daughter Elyssa Zapata and our baby granddaughter Gabriella went with us also.  Jared, our son in law was in the Philippine Islands on a missions’ trip.  Elyssa is a very good friend of Tiffany Smith McKittrick.  After the tournament on Friday night all of us went to Perkins and enjoyed a great time of food and fellowship.  In the picture you’ll see from left to right, John and Kim Smith, Joel their youngest, Ryan Smith their oldest and his wife Karissa.  Then at the other end there’s Daren McKittrick holding Gabriella and to his left his wife Tiffany and to her left you see Elyssa, Andrés and my beautiful wife.  Of course I’m not in the picture because I am the photographer.

El 19-20 de enero nuestro hijo menor, Andrés, fue a Hot Springs, Arkansas a jugar baloncesto en un torneo auspiciado por la Iglesia Bautista Faro de Luz.  Fue un torneo de Preparatorias Cristianas y la escuela de nuestro hijo, Academia Cristiana La Gracia de Flower Mound, Texas, llegó en tercer lugar.  Mi esposa y yo decidimos ir y ver a nuestro hijo jugar y mientras estuvimos ahí tomamos la oportunidad de encontrarnos con nuestros amigos, John y Kim Smith y su familia.  El hermano John y yo trabajamos juntos en Longview, Texas por casi 10 años antes de que el Señor nos llevara en caminos separados.  Los Smiths son amigos queridos y tuvimos un gran tiempo hospedándonos en su casa por esos dos días.  Nuestra hija Elyssa Zapata y nuestra nietecita Gabriella fueron con nosotros también.  Jared, nuestro yerno, estaba en las Islas Filipinas en un viaje misionero.  Elyssa es muy buena amiga de Tiffany Smith McKittrick.  Después del torneo el viernes en la noche todos nosotros fuimos a Perkins y disfrutamos un buen tiempo de comida y compañerismo.  En el retrato puedes ver de izquierda a derecha a John y Kim Smith, Joel Smith su hijo menor, Ryan Smith su hijo mayor y su esposa Karissa.  Luego al final de la mesa está Daren McKittrick con Gabriella en sus brazos y su esposa Tiffany y a la izquierda de Tiffany pueden ver a Elyssa, Andrés y mi hermosa esposa.  Claro, yo no estoy en la foto porque yo soy el fotógrafo.
