Preaching in Durham, NC/Predicando en Durham, NC

On May 21 – 23 I preached at the Liberty Baptist Church where Pastor Dani Motta is the Spanish Pastor.  Pastor Motta was one of my teens when I pastored in Fajardo, Puerto Rico in 1990.  He use to be my sound man when he was 15 years old.  Pastor Motta surrendered to the call of God to the ministry in a Pastors’ School in Hammond, IN under Dr. Jack Hyles.  He went to college and after he graduated started the Spanish church at the Liberty Baptist Church in Durham, NC where Pastor Jack Cox is the Pastor.  Pastor Motta has been there since and now averages 400 on a weekly basis and has had several big days with over 1,500 in attendance.  One of the greatest things about going to this church is that every time I go I see new people as well as those who have been with him since the beginning.  Praise the Lord for faithful people.  I thank God He gave me the opportunity to influence Dani’s life and I am overwhelmed with joy to see the fruit of that influence.  It’s all by His Grace!

El 21 – 23 de mayo prediqué en la Iglesia Bautista Libertad donde Dani Motta es el Pastor Hispano.  El Pastor Motta fue uno de mis jóvenes cuando yo fui Pastor en Fajardo, Puerto Rico en el 1990.  El fue mi hombre de sonido cuando él tenía 15 años.  El Pastor Motta se rindió al llamado de Dios al ministerio en una escuela de Pastores en Hammond, IN bajo el Dr. Jack Hyles.  El fue al colegio y después de graduarse comenzó la iglesia hispana de la Iglesia Bautista Libertad en Durham, NC donde el Dr. Jack Cox es el Pastor.  El Pastor Motta ha estado ahí desde entonces y ahora tiene de promedio más de 400 semanalmente y ha tenido varios días grandes con más de 1,500 en asistencia.  Una de la mejores cosas de yo ir a predicar a esta iglesia es que siempre que voy veo gente nueva y también a esos que han estado con él desde el comienzo.  Gloria a Dios por personas fieles.  Yo le doy gracias a Dios que El me dio la oportunidad de influenciar la vida de Dani y estoy abrumado en gozo al ver el fruto de esa influencia.  ¡Es todo por la Gracia de Dios!

Preaching in Marion, NC/Predicando en Marion, NC

On May 17-19, I had the privilege of preaching for my good friend, Pastor Francisco Jimenez, from the Mount Sinai Baptist Mission of Marion, NC.  This was the second year I preach for him on his church’s anniversary.  I was very much encouraged to see the growth of the church this past year.  I shared the pulpit with Pastor Salvador Ramos from the Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC.  Pastor Jimenez came from that church three years ago to start his church in Marion.

El 17 – 19 de mayo tuve el privilegio de predicar para mi buen amigo, el Pastor Francisco Jiménez, de la Misión Bautista Monte Sinaí de Marion, NC.  Esta fue la segunda vez que prediqué para él en su aniversario de la iglesia.  Quedé bien animado al ver el crecimiento de la iglesia este pasado año.  Compartí el púlpito con el Pastor Salvador Ramos de la Iglesia Bautista Monte Sinaí de Kannapolis, NC.  El Pastor Jiménez salió de esa iglesia tres años atrás para comenzar su iglesia en Marion.

Recently, for Andres’ graduation we had the opportunity to have family over and my brother in law, Pastor Jesse Dominguez, III was able to come with his family.  I asked him to preach to my people in one of the services in our church.  He did a splendid job challenging our people to give our all to Jesus and not let anything stop us from giving our all.  Praise the Lord for family who serves the Lord as much as we do.

Recientemente, para la graduación de Andrés tuvimos la oportunidad de tener familia visitando y my cuñado, el Pastor Jesse Domínguez, III pudo venir con su familia.  Yo le pedí que le predicara a mi gente en uno de los servicios de nuestra iglesia.  El hizo un trabajo esplendido retando a nuestra gente a darle todo a Jesús y no dejar que nada nos impida dar nuestro todo.  Gloria a Dios por familia quienes sirven al Señor tanto como nosotros.

The Family goes to Kentucky/La Familia va a Kentucky

A day very much anticipated came on Wednesday, May 9^th when our family boarded an American Eagle flight bound to Lexington, KY to see our son, Danny Ortiz III be ordained and graduate from Bible College as a Pastor.  We are very excited for our son’s accomplishment.  Not only my wife and our boys were able to go, but also Jared, Elyssa and Gabriella came along.  I praise the Lord for my miles with American Airlines because it allowed us to fly free of charge.  We spent a week in Lexington and enjoyed the time with Danny.  We were also able to get together with Pastor John Seay and his family from the Frederick Baptist Church in Frederick, Maryland.  Danny is dating his daughter, Sarah and he will also be doing an internship in their church for six weeks this summer.  Danny has been offered the position of Assistant to the Pastor once the internship is over.  His plans are to accept the offer, and later on in the future start a church in Louisville, KY.  God has been good to me and my family and I feel very unworthy of His goodness in my life.  It has been by His grace alone that we have come to this time in our lives.  We continue to pray for God to lead our two youngest sons – David and Andrés – who will continue following God’s leading as they study for the ministry in Bible College.  Thank you Lord for blessing us so much!  We love you!

Un día muy anticipado llegó el miércoles, 9 de mayo, cuando nuestra familia abordó un vuelo de American Eagle con rumbo a Lexington, KY para ver a nuestro hijo, Danny Ortiz, III ser ordenado y graduar del colegio Bíblico como Pastor.  Estamos bien entusiasmados por los logros de nuestro hijo.  No sólo mi esposa y nuestros hijos pudieron ir, sino que también Jared, Elyssa y Gabriella vinieron.  Alabo al Señor por mis millas con American Airlines porque nos permitió volar gratis.  Pasamos una semana en Lexington y disfrutamos el tiempo con Danny.  También pudimos juntarnos con el Pastor John Seay y su familia de la Iglesia Bautista de Frederick, Maryland.  Danny está citando a su hija, Sarah y él también estará haciendo una práctica en su iglesia por seis semanas.  A Danny se le ha ofrecido la posición de asistente de Pastor una vez la práctica se termine.  Sus planes es aceptar la oferta y luego en un futuro comenzar una iglesia en Louisville, KY.  Dios ha sido bueno conmigo y con mi familia y me siento bien indigno de Su bondad en mi vida.  Ha sido por Su gracia solamente que hemos llegado a este tiempo en nuestras vidas.  Continuamos orando para que Dios guíe a nuestros hijos más jóvenes – David y Andrés – quienes continúan siguiendo la dirección de Dios mientras estudian para el ministerio en el colegio Bíblico.  ¡Gracias Señor por bendecirnos tanto!  ¡Te amamos!

Farewell to the Guzman Family/Despedida a la Familia Guzman

On Sunday, May 6^th we said good bye to a dear family in our church – The Guzman Family.  Bro and Mrs. Guzman were members of our church when I became the Pastor in July of 2004.  At the time, they did not hold a position in our church.  They had been saved for a while and had been members of other independent Baptist churches in the previous places where they lived.  Nonetheless, I saw this couple grow in the Lord in a wonderful way.  They had just recently married when I came to Pastor our church and in the past nearly 8 years they had two children – Caleb and Becky – and they became very much involved in our ministry.  He became a deacon, the Sunday school teacher of our new converts’ class, the bus captain of our Dallas route and she became a general teacher for the single ladies’ class, a missionary circle leader and their children sang in our children’s choir.  Bro. Guzman, prior to his coming to our church was called to preach and the time came for him to obey God’s call.  They left to start a church in Walla Walla, Washington.  They will be missed but we are very happy for them as they continue to do God’s will and obey His call.  We are very proud of them!  May God bless you Guzman family!

El domingo, 6 de mayo, le dijimos adiós a una querida familia en nuestra iglesia – La Familia Guzmán.  El Hermano y la Hermana Guzmán eran miembros de nuestra iglesia cuando yo me convertí en el Pastor en Julio 2004.  En el momento, ellos no tenían una posición en nuestra iglesia.  Ellos habían sido salvos por un tiempo y habían sido miembros de otras iglesias Bautistas independientes en otras ciudades anteriores donde vivían.  No obstante, yo ví a esta pareja crecer en el Señor en una manera maravillosa.  Ellos acababan de casarse cuando vine a ser el Pastor de nuestra iglesia y en los pasados casi ocho años tuvieron dos hijos – Caleb y Becky – y se envolvieron mucho en nuestro ministerio.  El vino a ser un diácono, maestro de la clase dominical de los nuevos convertidos, el capitán de la ruta de Dallas y ella vino a ser la maestra general de la clase de las damas solas, una líder de los círculos misioneros y sus hijos cantaban en el coro de niños.  El Hermano Guzmán, antes de venir a nuestra iglesia había sido llamado a predicar y el tiempo llegó para él obedecer el llamado de Dios.  Ellos se fueron para comenzar una iglesia en Walla Walla, Washington.  Los vamos a extrañar, pero estamos contentos por ellos al ellos continuar haciendo la voluntad de Dios y obedecer Su llamado.  Estamos bien orgullosos de ellos.  ¡Que Dios les bendiga Familia Guzmán!
