Obed Arevalo is new to our teen department.  He recently turned 12.  He is the son of Salvador and Laura Arevalo.  Bro. Salvador is one of our deacons and Mrs. Laura is one of the church's secretary.  Today as the teens went our soulwinning Obed led his firt soul to Christ.  How exciting it is to see our young people go out and win people to our Saviour!

Obed Arevalo es nuevo a nuestro departamento de jovenes.  El recientemente cumplio 12.  El es el hijo de Salvador y Laura Arevalo.  El Hermano Salvador es uno de nuestros diaconos y la Hermana Laura es una de las secretarias de la iglesia.  Hoy mientras los jovenes salieron a ganar almas Obed guio a su primera alma a Cristo.  ¡Que emocionante es ver a nuestros jovenes salir y ganar personas para nuestro Salvador!

"A Gol For Christ" Spring Campaign/Campaña de Primavera" Un Gol Para Cristo"

Yesterday we began our four-week Spring Campaign, "A Gol For Christ."  (It is a soccer theme.)  We divided the church into two teams - The Lions vs. The Eagles.  Dr. Ray Young was our speaker as he has been for the past 5 years.  We had 370 in church yesterday morning with 13 professions and 1 baptism.  On Sunday night the Lord gave us 4 professions and 3 baptisms.  We had a soul-winning marathon on Saturday and the Lord allowed us to see over 150 people ask Jesus to save them.  Praise the Lord for the great start of our campaign!  By the way, the Lions are winning 6-2 over the Eagles.

Ayer comenzamos nuestra Campaña de Primavera, "Un Gol Para Cristo."  Dividimos a la iglesia en dos equipos - Los Leones vs. Las Aguilas.  El Dr. Ray Young fue nuestro predicador como lo ha sido por los pasado 5 años.  Tuvimos 370 en la iglesia por la mañana con 13 profesiones y 1 bautismo.  El domingo en la noche Dios nos dio 4 profesiones y 3 bautismos.  Tuvimos un maraton de ganar almas el sabado y el Señor nos permitio ver mas de 150 personas pedirle a Jesus que les salvase. ¡Gloria a Dios por el gran comienzo de nuestra campaña!  Dicho sea de paso, los Leones le estan ganando a las Aguilas 6-2.

A few weeks ago, Adam Freed and his family spent some time with my wife and I eating lunch together.  Adam was one of the dorm guys in Texas Baptist College when I was the Dean of Men.  Mrs. Freed and I worked together on the staff at Longview Baptist Temple.  She was one of the church secretaries and played the piano for our Spanish Soul-winning meeting on Thursday nights.  My wife and I chaperoned a few dates for them when they were dating back in college.  What a blessing to see them again after so many years and this time with their children!  We had a great time catching up on lost time.  It is such a blessing to me to see the guys God allowed me to influence still serving the Lord!

Unas semanas atras, Adam Freed y su familia pasaron tiempo conmigo y mi esposa almorzando juntos.  Adam fue uno de los muchachos del dormitorio en el Colegio Bautista de Texas cuando yo fui el Decano de los Hombres.  La Hna. Freed y yo trabajamos juntos en el personal del Templo Bautista de Longview.  Ella fue una de las secretarias de la iglesia y toco el piano para nuestra reunion de ganar almas los jueves en la noche.  Mi esposa y yo los acompañamos en unas cuantas citas cuando ellos eran novios en el colegio.  ¡Que bendicion fue verlos otra vez despues de tanto años y esta vez con sus hijos!  Tuvimos un tiempo tremendo recuperando tiempo perdido.  ¡Es una bendicion para mi ver a los muchachos que Dios me permitio influenciar todavia sirviendo al Señor!
