Our Fall Campaign begins/Nuestra Campaña de Otoño comienza

Last Sunday, October 2^nd, began our annual “Harvest of Souls” fall campaign and as always, Dr. Wendell Evans, President Emeritus of Hyles-Anderson College, came to be our special guest speaker.  This is his 6^th time in a row he and his wife come to be with us.  Our people not only anticipate their coming, but also enjoy hearing him preach.  He preached two great sermons for us that day.  His Sunday morning sermon on the goodness of God was a tremendous breath of fresh air for our people and he challenged us on Sunday night to do more for God.  We also had the privilege of having the Tom Sloan family, missionaries to Chiapas, Mexico in our service that morning.  They were just passing by and decided to visit our church.  I am glad missionaries know they can stop in our church any time they wish.  Some of our music groups sang that day and overall the Lord gave us a great Sunday with over 300 in attendance, 9 saved and 3 baptized.  Praise the Lord for His goodness!

El domingo pasado, 2 de octubre, comenzó nuestra campaña de otoño anual “Cosecha de Almas” y como siempre, el Dr. Wendell Evans, Presidente Emeritus del colegio de Hyles-Anderson, vino a ser nuestro invitado especial.  Esta es la 6^ta vez corrida que él y su esposa vienen a estar con nosotros.  Nuestra gente no sólo anticipa la venida de ellos, sino que también disfrutan escucharlo predicar.  El predicó dos grandes sermones para nosotros ese día.  Su sermón el domingo en la mañana sobre la bondad de Dios fue un aliento de aire fresco para nuestra gente y él nos retó el domingo en la noche a que hagamos más para Dios.  También tuvimos el privilegio de tener a la familia de Tomás Sloan, misioneros a Chiapas, México en nuestro servicio esa mañana.  Ellos estaban pasando por él área y decidieron visitar nuestra iglesia.  Estoy contento  que misioneros saben que pueden parar en nuestra iglesia cuando lo deseen.  Algunos de nuestros grupos musicales cantaron ese día y sobre todo el Señor nos dio un gran domingo con más de 300 en asistencia, 9 salvos y 3 bautizados.  ¡Gloria a Dios por Su bondad!

Preaching in Panama/Predicando en Panama

On Monday, September 19^th I left very early from my home to DFW to catch a flight to Miami, FL and from there to the country of Panama.  What a blessed trip this was for me and for many reasons.  I was very busy and preached many times while I was there, but it was also very productive and satisfying.  On that Monday I began a Revival Conference at the Lighthouse Fundamental Baptist Church in Panama City where one of our missionaries, Arnulfo Olivo, is the Pastor.  Pastor Olivo is doing a great job.  Under his leadership his church has grown from nothing to over 150 and they have started a second church also in the city.  The Lord gave us a blessed time those three nights.  Then on Thursday Pastor Olivo and his family drove me three hours to the city of Santiago where I preached a two night revival for another one of our missionaries, Pastor Roberto Maldonado and the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Santiago, Panama.  Pastor Maldonado has been pastoring this church for only seven months.  This church has gone through a tremendous trial and God has placed Pastor Maldonado in this church to help take it out of it.  I believe the Lord will use this man and his family to help this church move forward.  On Saturday Pastor Maldonado drove me another three hours to the city of Dolega where I preached for the third time for another one of our missionaries, Pastor Rafael Rodríguez and the Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church in Dolega, Panama.  They celebrated their sixth anniversary and we had over 200 in attendance with 27 saved.  Then on Sunday night I preached for Pastor Byron Willis at the Bible Baptist Church in David, Panama.  What a great work this is!  I spoke for the teachers and workers before the service and preached the evening sermon.  Many decisions were made and no doubt God is using Pastor Willis to build a great work in this country.  Finally on Monday, September 26^th I flew from David into Panama City on a domestic flight and Pastor Olivo picked me up at that airport and drove me to the international airport where I caught my flight to Miami and then to DFW.  After a long day flying I finally made it home by midnight.  It was good to be back home!

El lunes, 19 de septiembre me fui bien temprano de mi casa a DFW a tomar un vuelo a Miami, FL y de ahí al país de Panamá.  ¡Qué bendito viaje fue este para mí y por muchas razones!  Estuve bien ocupado y prediqué muchas veces mientras estuve ahí, pero también fue bien productivo y de mucha satisfacción.  Ese lunes comencé una Conferencia de Avivamiento en la Iglesia Bautista Fundamental El Faro en la ciudad de Panamá donde uno de nuestros misioneros, Arnulfo Olivo, es el Pastor.  El Pastor Olivo está haciendo un gran trabajo.  Bajo su liderazgo su iglesia ha crecido de la nada a más de 150 y han comenzado una segunda iglesia también en la ciudad.  El Señor nos dio un tiempo de bendición esas tres noches.  Luego el jueves el Pastor Olivo y su familia me llevaron tres horas a la ciudad de Santiago donde prediqué una conferencia de avivamiento para otro de nuestros misioneros, el Pastor Roberto Maldonado y la Iglesia Bautista Ebenezer en Santiago, Panamá.  El Pastor Maldonado has estado pastoreando esta iglesia por sólo siete meses.  Esta iglesia ha pasado por una prueba tremenda y Dios ha puesto al Pastor Maldonado en esta iglesia para ayudarla a salir de ella.  Yo creo que el Señor usará a este hombre y a su familia para ayudar a esta iglesia a seguir adelante.  El sábado el Pastor Maldonado me llevó otras tres horas a la ciudad de Dolega donde prediqué por la tercera vez para otro de nuestros misioneros, el Pastor Rafael Rodríguez y la Iglesia Bautista Bíblica El Faro en Dolega, Panamá.  Ellos celebraron su sexto aniversario y tuvimos más de 200 en asistencia con 27 salvos.  Luego el domingo en la noche prediqué para el Pastor Byron Willis en la Iglesia Bíblica Bautista en David, Panamá.  ¡Qué tremenda obra esta es!  Le hablé a los maestros y obreros antes del servicio y prediqué el sermón de la noche.  Muchas decisiones fueron hechas y sin duda Dios está usando al Pastor Willis para edificar una gran obra en este país.  Finalmente el lunes, 26 de septiembre volé de David a la ciudad de Panamá en un vuelo doméstico y el Pastor Olivo me recogió en ese aeropuerto y me llevó al aeropuerto internacional donde tomé mi vuelo a Miami y luego a DFW.  Después de un largo día volando finalmente llegué a casa a la medianoche.  ¡Fue bueno llegar a casa!
