A day with Dr. Ray Young/Un dia con el Dr. Ray Young

On Sunday, April 15^th we had once again the honor of having Dr. Ray Young for the opening of our Spring Campaign.  This year’s theme is “Fishers of Men.”  The Lord gave us over 300 in attendance with 10 public professions and 6 baptisms.  Dr. Young spoke to the teen department in the Sunday school hour while Mrs. Young spoke to the Single Ladies’ class.  Dr. Young preached the morning and evening services and Mrs. Young spoke to the ladies at 5:30 pm.  As always we had a great time with them.  Then on Monday we had a real treat!  Dr. Young took some of us along with some folks from Bro. Gonzalez’s church in Arlington, Bro. Mendoza’s church in Mesquite and Bro. Engelman’s church in Ft. Worth on a tour of the sights where Dr. Hyles was born and raised.  We started in Italy, TX and ended in downtown Dallas.  In Italy we were able to have some pictures taken by the monument Dr. Russell Anderson dedicated to Dr. Hyles.  It was a very special event as I relived memories of my days in Hyles-Anderson College hearing Dr. Hyles speak about his childhood and teen years.  Praise the Lord for the influence of Dr. Hyles in my life!

El domingo, 15 de abril una vez más tuvimos el honor de tener al Dr. Ray Young para el comienzo de nuestra Campaña de Primavera.  El tema de este año es “Pescadores de Hombres.”  El Señor nos dio más de 300 en asistencia con 10 profesiones de fe y 6 bautismos.  El Dr. Young le habló al departamento de jóvenes durante la hora de la escuela dominical mientras que la Hermana Young le habló a la clase de las damas solteras.  El Dr. Young predicó en la mañana y en la noche y la Hermana Young les habló a las damas a las 5:30 pm.  Como siempre tuvimos un buen tiempo con ellos.  ¡Luego el lunes tuvimos una gran sorpresa!  El Dr. Young llevó a unos cuantos de nosotros, junto con algunas personas de la iglesia del Hermano González en Arlington, de la iglesia del Hermano Mendoza en Mesquite y de la iglesia del Hno. Engelman en Ft. Worth en un paseo de los lugares donde el Dr. Hyles nació y se crió.  Comenzamos en Italy, TX y terminamos en el centro de Dallas.  En Italy pudimos tomarnos unas fotos al lado del monumento que el Dr. Russell Anderson le dedico al Dr. Hyles.  Fue un evento especial mientras yo revivía memorias de mis días en el Colegio de Hyles-Anderson escuchando al Dr. Hyles hablar de su niñez y juventud.  ¡Gloria a Dios por la influencia del Dr. Hyles en mi vida!

Bro. and Mrs. Jonathan Ashcraft visit our church/El Hno. y la Hna. Jonathan Ashcraft visitan nuestra iglesia

Recently on a Sunday night we had the privilege of having Bro. Jonathan Ashcraft and his wife Jenny and their recently born twins in our service.  We have supported them for 5 years while they work in Monterrey, Mexico at the Mount Hebron Baptist Chruch, pastored by his Dad, Dr. Tommy Ashcraft.  Bro. Jonathan works with the Media & Radio ministry and also works with the Bible Institute.  Obviously working for his Dad, he also does whatever his Dad needs him to do.  Jenny teaches music and is very much involved in the ministry there.  We were very happy to have them and hear him give a wonderful report of what God is doing at Mount Hebron.  My wife and I were very happy to have a picture taken with them and us holding the twins.  Please pray for them as well as for the other missionaries in Mexico.  Things over there are getting worse all the time and their safety is at risk.  Praise the Lord for their willingness to put their lives on the line for the sake of the cause of Christ.

Recientemente en un domingo en la noche tuvimos el privilegio de tener al Hno. Jonathan Ashcraft y a su esposa Jenny y a sus nacidos recientemente gemelitos en nuestro servicio.  Nosotros los hemos apoyado por 5 años mientras ellos trabajan en la obra en Monterrey, México en la Iglesia Bautista Monte Hebrón, pastoreada por su Papá, el Dr. Tommy Ashcraft.  El Hno. Jonathan trabaja con el ministerio de grabación y de la radio y también trabaja con el Instituto Bíblico.  Obviamente trabajando para su padre, él también hace lo que sea que su padre necesite que él haga.  Jenny enseña música y está bien envuelta en el ministerio ahí.  Nosotros estuvimos contentos de tenerles y escucharle dar un maravilloso reporte de lo que Dios está haciendo en Monte Hebrón.  Mi esposa y yo nos alegramos en poder tomarnos una foto con ellos y nosotros con los gemelos en nuestros brazos.  Por favor oren por ellos al igual que por los demás misioneros en México.  Las cosas allá se están poniendo peor todo el tiempo y la seguridad de ellos está en peligro.  Gloria a Dios por la disposición de ellos de arriesgar sus vidas por la causa de Cristo.
