Preaching in Asheboro, NC/Predicando en Asheboro, NC

Last Wednesday night was my birthday and since I traveled with my wife I decided to stay an extra day to spend it with her.  Well, we decided to take Tuesday to do some sight seeing and we went to Mount Airy, NC, home of famous actor Andy Griffith and we were able to see some of the memorabilia from the Andy Griffith show.  (For pictures go to my wife’s blog – www.robertaortiz.blogspot.com.)  The reason for going on Tuesday was because, when one of my friends in the ministry found out I was going to be in town, he talked to his pastor and he asked me to preach for him on Wednesday for his Christian school chapel at 11:30 am and for his Wednesday night Bible study.  I had the honor to preach for Pastor Jon Shook from the Bailey’s Grove Baptist Church in Asheboro, NC.  Brother Ricky Rosario is the Spanish Pastor there and he is the one who coordinated for me to be there that day.  Obviously, I was very happy to do so and what an honor for me to preach in such a great church.  I also spoke for his Sunday school teachers and workers in their meeting before the service.  I preached the sermon “Spiritual Sacrifices.”  Many used the altar making decisions for God.  Pastor Shook and his family along with Brother Ricky Rosario, his wife and his parents and my wife and I were able to spend some time together for lunch at Brother Ricky’s parents’ house and enjoyed a delicious puertorrican meal.

El miércoles pasado fue mi cumpleaños y como yo viajé con mi esposa decidí quedarme un día extra para pasarlo con ella.  Bueno, decidimos tomar el martes para irnos de paseo y fuimos a Mount Airy, NC, hogar del famoso actor Andy Griffith y pudimos ver algunos de los recuerdos del programa de Andy Griffith.  (Para más fotos vaya al blog de mi esposa – www.robertaortiz.blogspot.com.) La razón porque fuimos el martes fue porque, cuando uno de mis amigos en el ministerio supo que yo iba a estar en el pueblo, él habló con su pastor y él me pidió que predicara para él en su capilla de la escuela Cristiana a las 11:30 am y para su estudio Bíblico del miércoles en la noche.  Tuve el honor de predicar para el Pastor Jon Shook de la Iglesia Bautista Bailey’s Grove en Asheboro, NC.  El hermano Ricky Rosario es el Pastor hispano ahí y él fue el que coordinó para que yo predicara ese día.  Obviamente, yo estuve bien contento de hacerlo y que honor para mi predicar en tan gran iglesia.  También le hablé a los maestros y obreros de la escuela dominical en su reunión antes del servicio.  Prediqué el sermón “Sacrificios Espirituales.”  Muchos usaron el altar haciendo decisiones para Dios.  El Pastor Shook y su familia junto con el Hermano Ricky, su esposa y sus padres y mi esposa y yo pudimos pasar un poco de tiempo juntos para el almuerzo en la casa de los padres del Hermano Ricky y disfrutamos una deliciosa comida puertorriqueña.

Preaching in Greensboro NC/Predicando en Greensboro NC

On Monday, October 24^th my wife and I left for Greensboro, NC where I was to preach for the 6^th consecutive time for Pastor Albert Lopez, Pastor of the Open Door Baptist Church.  Pastor Lopez and I are from the same home church in Puerto Rico.  He was a bus kid reached by our church’s bus ministry and went to Hyles-Anderson College.  He started this church 15 years ago and has done a tremendous job.  I preach for him every year a family conference and it amazes me how the church grows every year.  No doubt the Lord is using him in a mighty way.  There were many decisions made and the Lord moved in the services in a special way.  Many people came to me after the services with tears in their eyes letting me know the Lord spoke to their hearts.  Praise the Lord for His grace in using a sinner like me!

El lunes, 24 de octubre mi esposa y yo salimos para Greensboro, Carolina del Norte donde yo iba a predicar por mi 6^ta vez consecutiva para el Pastor Alberto López, Pastor de la Iglesia Bautista Puerta Abierta.  El Pastor López y yo somos de la misma iglesia hogar en Puerto Rico.  El era un niño de las rutas alcanzado por el ministerio de rutas de nuestra iglesia y fue al Colegio de Hyles-Anderson.  El comenzó esta iglesia 15 años atrás y ha hecho un tremendo trabajo.  Yo predico para él cada año una conferencia de la familia y me sorprende como la iglesia crece cada año.  Sin duda el Señor está usándolo a él en una manera poderosa.  Hubo muchas decisiones hechas y el Señor se movió en los servicios en una manera especial.  Muchas personas vinieron a mí después de los servicios con lágrimas en sus ojos dejándome saber que el Señor les había hablado a sus corazones.  ¡Gloria al Señor por Su gracia en usar a un pecador como yo!

Last Sunday, October 23^rd we had the honor of having another one of our missionaries visit our church in the evening service.  Missionary Joshua Webb and his family from the Philippine Islands shared a tremendous report about how the Lord is blessing their work there.  We have been supporting his ministry for over four years and we are so thankful to the Lord for the return on our investment.  We are always happy to see our missionaries visit our church.  Let’s pray for their ministry, safety and for God to provide for their needs.

El domingo pasado, 23 de octubre tuvimos el honor de tener a otro de nuestros misioneros visitar nuestra iglesia en el servicio de la noche.  Misionero Joshua Webb y su familia de las Islas Filipinas compartieron un tremendo reporte de cómo el Señor está bendiciendo su obra allá.  Nosotros hemos estado sosteniendo su ministerio por más de cuatro años y estamos bien agradecidos al Señor por el regreso en nuestra inversión.  Siempre estamos contentos de ver a nuestros misioneros visitar nuestra iglesia.  Vamos a orar por su ministerio, su seguridad y para que Dios provea para sus necesidades.
