Winter Teen Retreat/Retiro Invernal de Jovenes

Last week Bro. Kelly Daniel, my personal assistant, and his wife took some of our teens to Tyler, TX for a three day winter retreat.  The young poeple had an excellent time of fun, fellowship and spiritual refreshing.  They enjoyed many activities such as canoeing, basketball, volleyball, ping pong, and also spend time together learning valuable lessons from the Word of God.  Many of our other teens were not able to go because some were out of town for the holidays and others had family visiting for the holidays!  Nonetheless, these teens had lots of fun and best of all made some decisions to be closer to the Lord.  Thank you Bro. and Mrs. Daniel for taking your time to spend it with the young poeple!

La semana pasada el Hno. Kelly Daniel, mi asistente personal, y su esposa llevaron a algunos de nuestros jovenes a Tyler, TX para un retiro invernal de tres dias.  Los jovenes tuvieron un tiempo excelente de diversion, compañismo y refrescura espiritual.  Ellos disfrutaron muchas actividades tales como paseo en canoas, baloncesto, volleyball, ping pong, y tambien pasaron tiempo juntos aprendiendo lecciones de valor de la Palabra de Dios.  ¡Muchos de nuestros otros jovenes no pudieron ir porque algunos estuvieron fuera del pueblo por los dias festivos y otros tuvieron familiares visitando para los dias festivos!  No obstante, estos jovenes tuvieron mucha diversion y lo mejor de todo hicieron algunas decisiones de acercarse al Señor.  ¡Gracias Hno. y Hna. Daniel por tomar de su tiempo para pasarlo con los jovenes!

This afternoon my three sons, Danny, David and Andres, and I went to Elmfork Shooting Range in Dallas, Texas for a few rounds of shooting.  We shot a couple of 9mm pistols, a 45mm pistol and a Sig Sauer rifle.  We had a great time together!

Esta tarde mis tres hijos, Danny, David y Andres, y yo fuimos a Elmfork Shooting Range en Dallas, Texas para disparar unas cuantas balas.  Disparamos un par de revolveres 9mm, un revolver 45mm y un rifle Sig Sauer.  ¡Tuvimos un buen tiempo juntos!

Men of Faith and the Children's Choir/Hombres de Fe y el Coro de Niños

This past Sunday we had our special Christmas service in our church.  One of our music groups - Men of Faith - sang, "Go tell it on the mountain."  We also had the children's choir sing a medley of Christmas songs.  After the service we enjoyed a time of fellowship with lots of good food.  We praise the Lord for His wonderful blessings this year and we look forward to many more this coming year 2011.

Este pasado Domingo tuvimos nuestros servicio especial de Navidad en nuestra iglesia.  Uno de nuestros grupos musicales - Hombres de Fe - cantaron, "Ve dilo en las montañas."  Tuvimos tambien al coro de niños cantar una coleccion de canciones de Navidad.  Despues del servicio disfrutamos un tiempo de compañerismo con mucha comida buena.  Alabamos al Señor por Sus bendiciones maravillosas este año y anticipamos muchas mas este año que viene 2011.

The Ortiz-Zapata Family would like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2011.  This year was a very special Christmas because our daughter Elyssa celebrated her first Christmas with her husband Jared and also because they gave my wife and I a very special Christmas gift - My wife and I in seven months are going to be GRANDPARENTS!  We are also very happy to have our two sons, Danny and David, back home from college.  They attend Commonwealth Baptist College in Lexington, KY.  Andres has only a year and a half before he leaves for college.  My wife and I are enjoying our time with him and he has been a blessing to us in filling the void.  God bless you all!

La Familia Ortiz-Zapata quisiera desearle y a los suyos una muy Feliz Navidad y un Feliz Año Nuevo 2011.  Este año es una Navidad muy especial porque nuestra hija Elyssa celebro su primera Navidad con su esposo Jared y tambien porque ellos nos dieron un regalo especial de Navidad - ¡Mi esposa y yo en siete meses seremos ABUELOS!  Estamos bien alegres tambien de tener a nuestros dos hijos, Danny y David, de regreso en casa del colegio.  Ellos asisten al Colegio Bautista Commonwealth de Lexington, KY.  Andres tiene solo un año y medio antes de irse al colegio.  Mi esposa y yo estamos disfrutando nuestro tiempo con el y el ha sido una bendicion para nosotros llenando el vacio  ¡Dios les bendiga a todos!

Missionary to Ukraine David Sloan and Family/Misionero a Ucrania David Sloan y Familia

On Sunday, November 28, we had one of our 42 missionaries, Missionary David Sloan and his family visiting our church.  Bro. Sloan gave a wonderful report of the work in Ukraine, preached and his family delighted us with music.  What a great day it was with them in our midst!  Our people really enjoyed hearing them sing, hearing him preach and the great time of fellowship with them after the services.  Thank God for our missionaries!  We call them in our church our heroes!  After the service on Sunday night my wife and I took them to eat at IHOP where we were able to spend great time together talking about God's work in the mission field.  Mrs. Billie Sloan, Bro. Sloan's Mom, was visiting along with them.  Mrs. Billie Sloan has been in the mission field 50 years.

El domingo 28 de noviembre, tuvimos a uno de nuestros 42 misioneros, Misionero David Sloan y su familia visitando nuestra iglesia.  El Hermano Sloan nos dio un maravilloso reporte de la obra en Ucrania, predico y su familia nos deleito con musica.  ¡Que gran dia fue con ellos en medio de nosotros!  Nuestra gente verdaderamente disfrutaron escucharlos cantar, escucharlo predicar y el gran compañerismo con ellos despues de los servicios.  ¡Gracias a Dios por nuestros misioneros!  ¡Nosotros los llamamos nuestros heroes!  Despues del culto en la noche mi esposa y yo los llevamos a cenar a IHOP donde pudimos pasar un gran tiempo hablando de la obra de Dios en el campo misionero.  La Hermana Billie Sloan, la mama del Hermano Sloan, estaba visitando con ellos.  La Hermana Billie Sloan ha estado en el campo misionero 50 años.

Revival Conference in San Jose Costa Rica/Conferencia de Avivamiento en San Jose Costa Rica

This week the Lord gave me the opportunity to preach the 1st Annual Revival Conference in San Jose, Costa Rica for my good friend, Pastor Ricardo Valverde.  He pastors the Bible Baptist Church of Hatillo 2 in San Jose, Costa Rica and is one of the 42 missionaries we support.  The Lord gave us a great attendance throughout the conference and many decisions were made by God's people to be more consacrated and separated unto the Lord.

Esta semana el Señor me dio la oportunidad de predicar en la 1ra Conferencia Anual en San Jose, Costa Rica para mi buen amigo, el Pastor Ricardo Valverde.  El Pastorea la Iglesia Biblica Bautista de Hatillo 2 en San Jose, Costa Rica y es uno de los 42 misioneros que nuestra iglesia sostiene.  El Señor nos dio una gran asistencia a traves de la conferencia y muchas decisiones fueron hechas por el pueblo de Dios de ser mas consagrados y separados para el Señor.
