Winter Snow and Ice Storm/Tormenta Invernal de Nieve y Hielo

Well, folks, it happened!  This week we got the 2nd worse winter storm in history here in the Metroplex area with a lot of ice and snow.  It covered over 2,000 miles and 21 states of the Union.  I know it was bad in many places like Chicago and in the east coast, but here in Lewisville it was bad for us.  The school systems closed for almost the entire week, many businesses closed Tuesday and Wednesday, we had to even cancel our Wednesday night Bible study and our regular visitation for Thursday and today, and it looks like we might not be able to run the routes tomorrow morning because more snow and ice is expected to come.  Around here we don't operate too well in this kind of weather because we don't have the machinery to melt the snow and ice like they do up north.  In the pictures you'll see the snow in front of our house and also the ice on our church parking lot.  It was an ice-skating rink!  We thank the Lord, however, for His protection on our family and our people during this time.  Many still had to work and travel in these conditions.  One of my members, who is a surgeon technician, had to sepnd his nights at the hospital because the hospital couldn't take a chance on him being called in an emergency and he not make it to the hospital.  Hopefully this will be the only storm this year!  I can only take so much of this!  Ha, ha!

¡Bueno, amigos, sucedio! Esta semana tuvimos la 2da peor tormenta invernal en la historia aqui en el area del Metroplex con mucho hielo y mucha nieve.  Cubrio mas de 2,000 millas y 21 estados de la Union.  Se que estuvo malo en muchos lugares como Chicago y en la costa del este, pero aqui es Lewisville estuvo malo para nosotros.  El sistema escolar cerro por casi la semana entera, muchos negocios cerraron el martes y el miercoles, tuvimos que aun cancelar el estudio Biblico del miercoles y nuestra visitacion del jueves y la de hoy, y tal parece que no podremos correr nuestras rutas mañana en la mañana porque se espera que venga mas nieve y hielo.  Por aqui nosotros no funcionamos muy bien en esta clase de clima porque no tenemos la maquinaria para derretir la nieve y el hielo como lo tienen en el norte.  En las fotos veran la nieve frente a nuestra casa y tambien el hielo en el estacionamiento de la iglesia.  ¡Era una pista de patinaje sobre hielo!  No obstante, le damos gracias al Señor por Su proteccion sobre nuestra familia y nuestra gente durante este tiempo.  Muchos tuvieron que trabajar y viajar en estas condiciones.  Uno de mis miembros, quien es un tecnico cirujano, tuvo que pasar las noches en el hospital porque el hospital no podia correr el riesgo en que tuvieran que llamarlo en un caso de emergencia y el no poder llegar al hospital.  ¡Esperamos que esta sea la unica tormenta de este año!  ¡Yo solo puedo aguantar lo suficiente de esto!  ¡Ja ja!

Bro. & Mrs. Jose Padilla - Missionaries to Ricon de Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexico/Hno. & Hna. Jose Padilla - Misioneros a Ricon de Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexico

This past Sunday night we had the privilege of having Bro. Jose Padilla and his wife, Irma Padilla, visit our church and give a report of what the Lord is doing in Ricon de Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexico.  He is one of the 46 missionaries we support.  Our church has been supporting the Padillas for over 4 years.  Bro. Padilla is a native of Ricon de Romos and God called him to go back to his people and win them for Him.  He started the Fundamental Baptist Church of Rincon de Romos 4 years ago and now the church is averaging 60.  They also have a very unique ministry.  They are reaching the handicap people in the city.  The Padillas have two sons with Muscular Dystrophy.  Here in the picture you also see Josiah, their grandson.  Praise the Lord for our missionaries!

Este pasado domingo en la noche tuvimos el privilegio de tener al Hno. Jose Padilla y su esposa, Irma Padilla, visitando nuestra iglesia y dar un reporte de los que el Señor esta haciendo en Ricon de Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexico.  El es uno de los 46 misioneros que nosotros sostenemos.  Nuestra iglesia ha estado sosteniendo a los Padillas por mas de 4 años.  El Hno. Padilla es natural de Rincon de Romos y Dios lo llamo a regresar a su gente y ganarlos para El.  El comenzo la Iglesia Bautista Fundamental de Rincon de Romos 4 años atras y ahora la iglesia tiene 60 de promedio.  Ellos tambien tienen un ministerio unico.  Ellos estan alcanzando a la gente incapacitada de la ciudad.  Los Padillas tienen dos hijos con Distrofia Muscular.  Aqui en la foto tambien pueden ver a Josias, el nieto de ellos. ¡Gloria a Dios por nuestros misioneros!

Great day soulwinning for our teens/Gran dia ganando almas para nuestros jovenes

Last Saturday some of our teens went out soulwinning during our scheduled church soul-winning time.  Here are some of them after being out soulwinning with my assistant, Bro. Kelly Daniel and his wife.  They made a stop at the Chick-Fil-A in Lewisville after soulwinning.  Some of our other teens go soulwinning in regular bus routes and others go with their parents.  Between all of our teens they saw 18 people saved last Saturday and best of all, everyone saw at least one saved.  Grecia Muela, who is the second young lady from left to right on the front row, led her first soul to the Lord.  I led Grecia to the Lord several months ago. Praise the Lord for teens who want to serve God and dedicate some of their Saturdays to Him!

El sabado pasado algunos de nuestros jovenes salieron a ganar almas durante nuestro tiempo de ganar almas como iglesia.  Aqui hay unos cuantos de ellos despues de ganar almas con mi asistente, el Hno. Kelly Daniel y su esposa.  Ellos hicieron una parada en el Chick-Fil-A de Lewisville despues de ganar almas.  Algunos de nuestros otros jovenes van a ganar almas en rutas regulares de autobuses y otros van con sus padres.  Entre todos los jovenes ellos vieron 18 personas salvas el sabado pasado y lo mejor de todo es que cada uno vio por lo menos a una persona salva. Grecia Muela, quien es la segunda joven de izquierda a derecha en la primera fila, guio su primera alma al Señor.  Yo guie a Grecia al Señor unos cuantos meses atras. ¡Gloria a Dios por jovenes que quieren servir al Señor y le dedican parte de sus sabados a El!

Another young man goes to Bible college/Otro joven se va al colegio Biblico

Last Tuesday, January 4, Victor Rios left with my personal assistant, Bro. Kelly Daniel on a Greyhound bus to Lexington, KY to attend Commonwealth Baptist College.  Bro. Daniel accompanied Victor on the trip to help him get settled.  Victor is #13 to go to Bible College from our church.  We've had three graduate so far!  Ten are currently enrolled in Bible college - two at Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point IN; one at Fires of Evangelism Institute in Elgin IL; one at Lone Star Baptist College in Mesquite, TX; and now six at Commonwealth Baptist College in Lexington, KY.  Praise the Lord for young people who have surrendered their lives to serve God full time in some area of the ministry!  It is our joy to help our young people find the will of God for their lives in the ministry.

El martes pasado, 4 de enero, Victor Rios salio con mi asistente personal, el Hno. Kelly Daniel en un autobus de la Greyhound hacia Lexington, KY para asistir al Colegio Bautista Commonwealth.  El Hno. Daniel acompaño a Victor en el viaje para ayudarlo a establecerse.  Victor es el #13 en ir al Colegio Biblico de nuestra iglesia.  ¡Hemos tenido tres que se han graduado hasta ahora!  Diez estan en el momento en un colegio Biblico - dos en el Colegio de Hyles-Anderson en Crown Point, IN; uno en el Instituto Fuegos de Evangelismo en Elgin, IL; uno en el Colegio Bautista Lone Star en Mesquite, TX; y ahora seis en el Colegio Bautista Commonwealth en Lexington, KY.  ¡Gloria al Señor por jovenes que han rendido sus vidas para servir a Dios tiempo completo en alguna area del ministerio!  Es nuestro gozo ayudar a los jovenes a encontrar la voluntad de Dios para sus vidas en el ministerio.

Winter Teen Retreat/Retiro Invernal de Jovenes

Last week Bro. Kelly Daniel, my personal assistant, and his wife took some of our teens to Tyler, TX for a three day winter retreat.  The young poeple had an excellent time of fun, fellowship and spiritual refreshing.  They enjoyed many activities such as canoeing, basketball, volleyball, ping pong, and also spend time together learning valuable lessons from the Word of God.  Many of our other teens were not able to go because some were out of town for the holidays and others had family visiting for the holidays!  Nonetheless, these teens had lots of fun and best of all made some decisions to be closer to the Lord.  Thank you Bro. and Mrs. Daniel for taking your time to spend it with the young poeple!

La semana pasada el Hno. Kelly Daniel, mi asistente personal, y su esposa llevaron a algunos de nuestros jovenes a Tyler, TX para un retiro invernal de tres dias.  Los jovenes tuvieron un tiempo excelente de diversion, compañismo y refrescura espiritual.  Ellos disfrutaron muchas actividades tales como paseo en canoas, baloncesto, volleyball, ping pong, y tambien pasaron tiempo juntos aprendiendo lecciones de valor de la Palabra de Dios.  ¡Muchos de nuestros otros jovenes no pudieron ir porque algunos estuvieron fuera del pueblo por los dias festivos y otros tuvieron familiares visitando para los dias festivos!  No obstante, estos jovenes tuvieron mucha diversion y lo mejor de todo hicieron algunas decisiones de acercarse al Señor.  ¡Gracias Hno. y Hna. Daniel por tomar de su tiempo para pasarlo con los jovenes!

This afternoon my three sons, Danny, David and Andres, and I went to Elmfork Shooting Range in Dallas, Texas for a few rounds of shooting.  We shot a couple of 9mm pistols, a 45mm pistol and a Sig Sauer rifle.  We had a great time together!

Esta tarde mis tres hijos, Danny, David y Andres, y yo fuimos a Elmfork Shooting Range en Dallas, Texas para disparar unas cuantas balas.  Disparamos un par de revolveres 9mm, un revolver 45mm y un rifle Sig Sauer.  ¡Tuvimos un buen tiempo juntos!

Men of Faith and the Children's Choir/Hombres de Fe y el Coro de Niños

This past Sunday we had our special Christmas service in our church.  One of our music groups - Men of Faith - sang, "Go tell it on the mountain."  We also had the children's choir sing a medley of Christmas songs.  After the service we enjoyed a time of fellowship with lots of good food.  We praise the Lord for His wonderful blessings this year and we look forward to many more this coming year 2011.

Este pasado Domingo tuvimos nuestros servicio especial de Navidad en nuestra iglesia.  Uno de nuestros grupos musicales - Hombres de Fe - cantaron, "Ve dilo en las montañas."  Tuvimos tambien al coro de niños cantar una coleccion de canciones de Navidad.  Despues del servicio disfrutamos un tiempo de compañerismo con mucha comida buena.  Alabamos al Señor por Sus bendiciones maravillosas este año y anticipamos muchas mas este año que viene 2011.
