Preaching at the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas/Predicando en la Iglesia Bautista Sublime Gracia en Kansas City, Kansas

Last week my family and I took a few days off to rest from the work of the conference and went to Kansas City, Kansas to spend a few days with my in-laws, Pastor and Mrs. Jesse and Angie Dominguez.  He is the Spanish Pastor of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church, where Pastor Sam Olivas is the Pastor.  While there in Kansas, I had the opportunity to preach to the congregation.  I preached in Spanish and my father in law translated to English so the english folks could also hear the message.

La semana pasada mi familia y yo tomamos unos dias libres para descansar del trabajo de la conferencia y fuimos a Kansas City, Kansas a pasar unos dias con mis suegros, el Pastor y la Hermana Jesse y Angie Dominguez.  El es el Pastor Hispano de la Iglesia Bautista Sublime Gracia, donde el Pastor Sam Olivas pastorea.  Mientras estuve alli en Kansas, tuve la oportunidad de predicarle a la congregacion.  Predique en Español y mi suegro tradujo en Ingles para que los hermanos americanos pudieran escuchar el mensaje tambien.

7th Annual Family Conference/7ma Conferencia Anual de la Familia

Our church hosted our 7th Annual Family Conference March 30th through April 2nd.  The theme was "Returning To Our First Love."  Our main speaker was Dr. David Cortes, Pastor of the Open Door Baptist Church in Tijuana, Mexico.  His wife, Mrs. Graciela Cortes, also spoke to the ladies and young ladies on the Saturday sessions.  We also had Brother Brandon Fowler and his wife Tasha speak to the teens in the conference and also in our church on Sunday.  Brother Fowler preached the Sunday night service and gave his wonderful testimony of the Grace of God on his life; how he drifted from the Lord for six years and how the Lord brought him back to serve Him.  Brother Brandon now speaks in churches and testifies of the Grace and Mercy of God.  The conference was a great success and many decisions were made during the week.  We had 853 in attendance with 30 Pastors and full-time Christian workers including some missionaries.  We held the conference on Wednesday and Sunday in our church building and to accomodate the delegates, we held the conference Thursday through Saturday in the building next door to us.  We rented it for the conference.  Praise the Lord for His goodness in our lives!  Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Nuestra iglesia patrocino nuestra 7ma Conferencia Anual de la Familia del 30 de Marzo hasta el 2 de Abril.  El tema fue "Regresando A Nuestro Primer Amor."  Nuestro conferencista principal fue el Dr. David Cortes, Pastor de la Iglesia Bautista Puerta Abierta en Tijuana, Mexico.  Su esposa, la Hermana Graciela Cortes, tambien le hablo a las damas y a las adolescentes en las sesiones del Sabado.  Tambien tuvimos al Hermano Brandon Fowler y a su esposa Tasha quienes les hablaron a los jovenes en la conferencia y tambien en nuestra iglesia el Domingo.  El Hermano Fowler predico el servicio del Domingo en la noche y dio su maravilloso testimonio de la Gracia de Dios en su vida; de como el se alejo del Señor por seis años y como Dios lo regreso a El para servirle. El Hermano Fowler ahora habla en iglesias y testifica de la Gracia y la Misericordia de Dios.  La conferencia fue un gran exito y muchas decisiones fueron hechas durante la semana.  Tuvimos 853 en asistencia con 30 Pastores y obreros de tiempo completo incluyendo algunos misioneros.  Tuvimos la conferencia en nuestro edificio el Miercoles y el Domingo y para acomodar a los delegados tuvimos la conferencia de Jueves a Sabado en el edificio anexo.  Lo rentamos para la conferencia.  ¡Gloria a Dios por Su bondad en nuestras vidas!  ¡Espero disfruten los retratos!

Last week in a missions' conference at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Gainesville, Texas, where Dr. Gary Way is the Pastor, I got to see a friend I haven't seen in over 25 years.  Ken Fielder and I went to Hyles-Anderson College at the same time, stayed on the same floor in the dorm and worked in the same bus division while we were there.  Wow, was it a surprise when I saw him!  It is so good to know that some of the guys you went to school with are still being faithful to the Lord and standing for the same old fashion fundamentalism that was handed down to us by our hero and mentor, Dr. Jack Hyles.

La semana pasada en una conferencia de misiones en la Iglesia Bautista Crossraods en Gainesville, Texas, donde pastorea el Dr. Gary Way, pude ver a un amigo que no habia visto por mas de 25 años.  Ken Fielder y yo fuimos al Colegio de Hyles-Anderson al mismo tiempo, nos quedamos en el mismo piso en el dormitorio y trabajamos en la misma division de rutas mientras estuvimos ahi.  ¡Wow, que sorpresa fue cuando lo vi!  Es tan bueno saber que algunos de los muchachos con quienes uno fue a la escuela todavia estan siendo fieles al Señor y parandose por el mismo fundamentalismo antiguo que nos fue dado por nuestro heroe y mentor, el Dr. Jack Hyles.

Last Sunday, March 13th, we had the great honor of having one of the missionaries our supports in Mexico City, Dr. Kevin Wynne and his family.  Dr. Wynne and his family have been in Mexico City for 27 years and God has used him to build the largest Independent Baptist Church in Mexico with an average of 6,000 in attendance every Sunday and thousands of people saved throughout the years.  Last year they baptized over 5,000 converts in their church.  I have had the honor of preaching in his church many times and teaching in their Bible Institute.  We also support several of thier graduates as missionaries in Mexico.  Dr. Wynne told me that the safety of the missionaries in Mexico is in danger because of the drug cartels and mexican mafia.  They are now targeting the Pastors and churches.  Let's pray for all of our missionaries and their families.  It is a great honor to count Dr. Wynne a dear friend of mine and our church!

El domingo pasado, 13 de marzo, tuvimos el gran honor de tener a uno de los misioneros que nuestra iglesia sostiene en la Ciudad de Mexico, el Dr. Kevin Wynne y su familia.  El Dr. Wynne y su familia han estado en la Ciudad de Mexico por 27 años y Dios lo ha usado para edificar la Iglesia Bautista Independiente mas grande en Mexico con un promedio de 6,000 en asistencia todos los domingos y miles de personas salvas a traves de los años.  El año pasado ellos bautizaron mas de 5,000 convertidos en su iglesia.  Yo he tenido el honor de predicar en su iglesia varias veces y enseñar en su Instituto Biblico.  Nosotros tambien sostenemos a varios de sus graduados como misioneros en Mexico.  El Dr. Wynne me dijo que la seguridad de los misioneros en Mexico esta en peligro por causa de los carteles y la mafia mexicana.  Ahora estan atacando a los Pastores y a las iglesias.  Vamos a orar por todos nuestros misioneros y sus familias.  ¡Es un gran honor tener al Dr. Wynne como mi amigo y de nuestra iglesia!

Fundamentalist Conference in Charleston, SC/ Conferencia Fundamentalista en Charleston, SC

God gave me this week the opportunity and privilege to preach for my good friend, Pastor Valentin Alvarez, in his Fundamentalist Conference at the Trident Baptist Church, Charleston, SC.  He is the Spanish Pastor for Dr. Michael Haynes and has been overseeing the Spanish ministry there for 11 years.  The conference was a great success and without a doubt God moved in our midst and many decisions were made.

Dios me dio esta semana la oportunidad y el privilegio de predicar para mi buen amigo, el Pastor Valentin Alvarez, en su Conferencia Fundamentalista en la Iglesia Bautista Tridente, Charleston, SC.  El ha sido el Pastor hispano para el Dr. Michael Haynes y ha estado supervisando el ministerio hispano ahi por 11 años.  La conferencia fue un gran exito y sin duda Dios se movio en nuestro medio y muchas decisiones fueron hechas.

Pastor Ulises Martinez, from Chiapa de Corso, and his family visited our church to present the work in this southern part of the country of Mexico.  Mrs. Billie Sloan is his mother-in-law.  Mrs. Sloan has been in the mission field in Chiapas 50 years.  Pastor Martinez has a tremendous vision to reach the people of this city.  This faithful man gave up a very lucrative career to answer God's call to work for Him full time.  It is evident that God has been blessing this man of God.


El Pastor Ulises Martinez, de Chiapa de Corso, y su familia visitaron nuestra iglesia para presentar la obra en esta parte del sur del pais de Mexico.  La Hermana Billie Sloan es su suegra.  La Hermana Sloan ha estado en el campo misionero en Chiapas 50 años.  El Pastor Martinez tiene una tremenda vision de alcanzar a la gente de esta ciudad.  Este hombre fiel rindio una carrera bien lucrativa para responder al llamado de Dios de trabajar para El tiempo completo.  Es evidente que Dios ha estado bendiciendo a este hombre de Dios.

Recently, we had one of our 45 missionaries we support visit our church.  Bro. Albert Perez, missionary to Ecuador, and his family visited us on a Sunday night.  He gave a report of his deputation and told us of his plans to get to the mission field by August of this year.  We have been supporting them for over three years.  This man is an incredible soul winner!  We know God is going to use him to reach the Ecuatorians. Last Wednesday, we also had the opportunity to have Bro. Dan Hubbard and his family visit our church.  They are going to serve in Peru along with eight other couples.  Bro. Dan has a vision of starting 10,000 churches in ten years beginning with these ten families.  We praise the Lord for the vision He has given this man!

Recientemente, tuvimos a uno de nuestros 45 misioneros que sostenemos visitar nuestra iglesia.  El Hno. Alberto Perez, misionero al Ecuador, y su familia nos visitaron un domingo en la noche.  El dio un reporte de su deputacion y nos dijo de sus planes de llegar al campo misionero para Agosto de este año.  Nosotros hemos estado sosteniendolos por mas de tres años.  ¡Este hombre es un ganador de almas increible!  Sabemos que Dios lo va a usar para alcanzar a los Ecuatorianos.  El miercoles pasado, tambien tuvimos la oportunidad de tener al Hno. Dan Hubbard y su familia visitar nuestra iglesia.  Ellos van a servir en Peru junto con ocho parejas mas.  El Hno. Dan tiene la vision de comenzar 10,000 iglesias en diez años comenzando con estas diez familias.  ¡Alabamos al Señor por la vision que El le ha dado a este hombre!
