This afternoon my three sons, Danny, David and Andres, and I went to Elmfork Shooting Range in Dallas, Texas for a few rounds of shooting.  We shot a couple of 9mm pistols, a 45mm pistol and a Sig Sauer rifle.  We had a great time together!

Esta tarde mis tres hijos, Danny, David y Andres, y yo fuimos a Elmfork Shooting Range en Dallas, Texas para disparar unas cuantas balas.  Disparamos un par de revolveres 9mm, un revolver 45mm y un rifle Sig Sauer.  ¡Tuvimos un buen tiempo juntos!

Men of Faith and the Children's Choir/Hombres de Fe y el Coro de Niños

This past Sunday we had our special Christmas service in our church.  One of our music groups - Men of Faith - sang, "Go tell it on the mountain."  We also had the children's choir sing a medley of Christmas songs.  After the service we enjoyed a time of fellowship with lots of good food.  We praise the Lord for His wonderful blessings this year and we look forward to many more this coming year 2011.

Este pasado Domingo tuvimos nuestros servicio especial de Navidad en nuestra iglesia.  Uno de nuestros grupos musicales - Hombres de Fe - cantaron, "Ve dilo en las montañas."  Tuvimos tambien al coro de niños cantar una coleccion de canciones de Navidad.  Despues del servicio disfrutamos un tiempo de compañerismo con mucha comida buena.  Alabamos al Señor por Sus bendiciones maravillosas este año y anticipamos muchas mas este año que viene 2011.

The Ortiz-Zapata Family would like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2011.  This year was a very special Christmas because our daughter Elyssa celebrated her first Christmas with her husband Jared and also because they gave my wife and I a very special Christmas gift - My wife and I in seven months are going to be GRANDPARENTS!  We are also very happy to have our two sons, Danny and David, back home from college.  They attend Commonwealth Baptist College in Lexington, KY.  Andres has only a year and a half before he leaves for college.  My wife and I are enjoying our time with him and he has been a blessing to us in filling the void.  God bless you all!

La Familia Ortiz-Zapata quisiera desearle y a los suyos una muy Feliz Navidad y un Feliz Año Nuevo 2011.  Este año es una Navidad muy especial porque nuestra hija Elyssa celebro su primera Navidad con su esposo Jared y tambien porque ellos nos dieron un regalo especial de Navidad - ¡Mi esposa y yo en siete meses seremos ABUELOS!  Estamos bien alegres tambien de tener a nuestros dos hijos, Danny y David, de regreso en casa del colegio.  Ellos asisten al Colegio Bautista Commonwealth de Lexington, KY.  Andres tiene solo un año y medio antes de irse al colegio.  Mi esposa y yo estamos disfrutando nuestro tiempo con el y el ha sido una bendicion para nosotros llenando el vacio  ¡Dios les bendiga a todos!

Missionary to Ukraine David Sloan and Family/Misionero a Ucrania David Sloan y Familia

On Sunday, November 28, we had one of our 42 missionaries, Missionary David Sloan and his family visiting our church.  Bro. Sloan gave a wonderful report of the work in Ukraine, preached and his family delighted us with music.  What a great day it was with them in our midst!  Our people really enjoyed hearing them sing, hearing him preach and the great time of fellowship with them after the services.  Thank God for our missionaries!  We call them in our church our heroes!  After the service on Sunday night my wife and I took them to eat at IHOP where we were able to spend great time together talking about God's work in the mission field.  Mrs. Billie Sloan, Bro. Sloan's Mom, was visiting along with them.  Mrs. Billie Sloan has been in the mission field 50 years.

El domingo 28 de noviembre, tuvimos a uno de nuestros 42 misioneros, Misionero David Sloan y su familia visitando nuestra iglesia.  El Hermano Sloan nos dio un maravilloso reporte de la obra en Ucrania, predico y su familia nos deleito con musica.  ¡Que gran dia fue con ellos en medio de nosotros!  Nuestra gente verdaderamente disfrutaron escucharlos cantar, escucharlo predicar y el gran compañerismo con ellos despues de los servicios.  ¡Gracias a Dios por nuestros misioneros!  ¡Nosotros los llamamos nuestros heroes!  Despues del culto en la noche mi esposa y yo los llevamos a cenar a IHOP donde pudimos pasar un gran tiempo hablando de la obra de Dios en el campo misionero.  La Hermana Billie Sloan, la mama del Hermano Sloan, estaba visitando con ellos.  La Hermana Billie Sloan ha estado en el campo misionero 50 años.

Revival Conference in San Jose Costa Rica/Conferencia de Avivamiento en San Jose Costa Rica

This week the Lord gave me the opportunity to preach the 1st Annual Revival Conference in San Jose, Costa Rica for my good friend, Pastor Ricardo Valverde.  He pastors the Bible Baptist Church of Hatillo 2 in San Jose, Costa Rica and is one of the 42 missionaries we support.  The Lord gave us a great attendance throughout the conference and many decisions were made by God's people to be more consacrated and separated unto the Lord.

Esta semana el Señor me dio la oportunidad de predicar en la 1ra Conferencia Anual en San Jose, Costa Rica para mi buen amigo, el Pastor Ricardo Valverde.  El Pastorea la Iglesia Biblica Bautista de Hatillo 2 en San Jose, Costa Rica y es uno de los 42 misioneros que nuestra iglesia sostiene.  El Señor nos dio una gran asistencia a traves de la conferencia y muchas decisiones fueron hechas por el pueblo de Dios de ser mas consagrados y separados para el Señor.

Our Men's Rondalla sings /Nuestra Rondalla de Varones canta

On Sunday November 21, we had our special Thanksgiving service and our Men's Rondalla sang for us.  What a blessing to see men dedicate themselves to sing for the Lord!  We also had one of our 42 missionaries visit our church that night, Missionary Rafael Rodriguez and his wife Tracy with Evelyn, Emily and Rafael Jr.  Pastor Rodriguez and his family have been in Dolega, Panama for 5 years and doing an excellent job.  Our church has been supporting this family for all 5 years and we praise the Lord for the many that have been saved and transformed by God's Word through this precious family.  Let's pray for our missionaries; they are truly our heroes!

El Domingo 21 de Noviembre, tuvimos nuestro servicio especial de Accion de Gracias y nuestra Rondalla de Varones canto para nosotros.  ¡Que bendicion ver a hombres dedicarse a cantar para el Señor!  Tambien visito nuestra iglesia esa noche uno de nuestros 42 misioneros, Misionero Rafael Rodriguez y su esposa Tracy con Evelyn, Emily y Rafael Jr.  El Pastor Rodriguez y su familia han estado en Dolega, Panama cinco años y estan haciendo un trabajo excelente.  Nuestra iglesia ha estado sosteniendo a esta familia por los 5 años y alabamos al Señor por los muchos que han sido salvos y transformados por la Palabra de Dios a traves de esta preciosa familia.  ¡Oremos por nuestros misioneros; son verdaderamente nuestros heroes!

It was good to see a friend/Fue bueno ver a un amigo

While I was in Mexico City preaching for Dr. Kevin Wynne and teaching in his Bible Institute I was glad to see Armando Barajas, now a student at Mount Zion Baptist Institute.  Armando was in our church for six months before he left for Mexico to get married and finish his studies to be a Pastor.  We were able to talk a little and what a blessing it was to see him and knowing he is doing well.  He will be marching in May 2011 and then follow God's leading as to where he should start a church.  Let's pray for these young men who God has called to start churches in Mexico.  It is not an easy task,  but with His calling and leading they can and will do it.  No doubt Dr. Wynne is producing great men and ladies who are doing great works for the Lord all over Mexico.

Mientras estuve en la Ciudad de Mexico predicando para el Dr. Kevin Wynne y enseñando en su Instituto Biblico me alegre de ver a Armando Barajas, ahora un estudiante en el Instituto Bautista Monte Sion.  Armando estuvo en nuestra iglesia seis meses antes de irse a Mexico para casarse y terminar sus estudios para ser un Pastor.  Pudimos hablar un poco y que bendicion fue verlo y saber que el esta bien.  El estara graduando en Mayo 2011 y luego seguir la direccion de Dios en cuanto a donde comenzar una iglesia.  Vamos a orar por estos jovenes que Dios ha llamado para comenzar iglesias en Mexico.  No es un trabajo facil, pero con el llamado y la direccion de Dios ellos pueden y lo haran.  Sin duda que el Dr. Wynne esta produciendo grandes hombres y mujeres que estan haciendo grandes obras para el Señor en todo Mexico.

Trip to Mexico City/Viaje a la Ciudad de Mexico

This past Monday I flew from DFW to Mexico City to be for the second year in a row with Missionary David Combe, one of the 42 missionaries our church supports.  The conference lasted three nights and each service was full and many decisions were made by God's people.  It was the second annual family conference held in his church.  On Thursday morning I was taken to another hotel were I would stay Thursday and Friday to be with Dr. Kevin Wynne, Pastor of the Mount Sion Baptist Church in Mexico City, the largest independent Baptist Church in the country.  I had the honor of preaching in his Thursday night service along with Dr. Luis Paradas, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Long Beach, California.  Needless to say, the crowd was incredible, with probably over 1,000 people in the service.  Not bad for a mid-week church service!  Each picture of the crowd is half of the auditorium.  Today I will be teaching in the Mount Sion Bible Institute, a ministry of this great church.  Dr. Wynne has certainly done a great job for God in reaching hundreds of thousands of people with the gospel.  After the service Dr. Wynne was very kind in taking us out to eat with a great time of fellowship. In the picture from left to right is Dr. Wynne, his wife Debbie, with her husband's hat, Wendy Wynne, Johnny Wynne, Pastor Victor Castillo, from Texcoco, Mexico, Pastor Jose Aguero from the Dominican Republic and Dr. Luis Parada.  Praise God for these great men of God!  It was an honor for me to be with them!

Este pasado lunes vole del DFW a la Ciudad de Mexico para estar por segunda vez consecutiva con el Misionero David Combe, uno de los 42 misioneros que nuestra iglesia sostiene.  La conferencia duro tres noches y cada noche los servicios estuvieron llenos y muchas decisiones fueron hechas por el pueblo de Dios.  Fue la segunda conferencia anual de la familia tenida en su iglesia.  El jueves en la mañana fui llevado a otro hotel donde me hospedaria el jueves y el viernes para estar con el Dr. Kevin Wynne, Pastor de la Iglesia Bautista Monte Sion, en la Ciudad de Mexico, la iglesia Bautista independiente mas grande del pais.  Tuve el honor de predicar en su servicio del jueves en la noche junto con el Dr. Luis Paradas, Pastor de la Primera Iglesia Bautista de Long Beach, California. Sin duda alguna, la asistencia fue increible probablemente con mas de 1,000 personas en el servicio.  ¡No esta mal para un servicio de entre semana!  Cada retrato de la gente es una mitad del auditorio.  Hoy estare enseñando en el Instituto Bautista Monte Sion, un ministerio de esta gran iglesia.  El Dr. Wynne ciertamente ha hecho una gran obra para Dios en alcanzar a miles de cientos de personas con el evangelio.  Despues del servicio el Dr. Wynne fue bien amable en llevarnos a cenar con un tremendo tiempo de compañerismo.  En el retrato de izquierda a derecha esta el Dr. Wynne, su esposa Debbie, con el sombrero de su esposo, Wendy Wynne, Johnny Wynne, el Pastor Victor Castillo de Texcoco, Mexico, el Pastor Jose Aguero de la Republica Dominicana y el Dr. Luis Paradas.  ¡Gloria a Dios por estos grandes hombres de Dios!  ¡Fue para mi un honor estar con ellos!

Spending time with our young people in Lexington, Kentucky/Pasando tiempo con nuestros jovenes en Lexington, Kentucky

While my wife and I were in Lexington last week one of the blessings of the trip was being able to see our young people that attend Commonwealth Baptist College.  On Tuesday afternoon we took them to Sir Pizza and boy can they eat!  We had a great time laughing and catching up on news from back home.  These kids are so happy doing what they believe is the will of God for their lives.  Our church is so proud of them!  In the picture you can see from left to right David Ortiz, Danny Ortiz, Jose Valencia, Diana Valencia and Aracely Landeros.  Let's pray for our young people as they do their best to do God's will!

Mientras mi esposa y yo estuvimos en Lexington la semana pasada una de las bendiciones del viaje fue poder ver a nuestros jovenes que asisten al Colegio Bautista de Commonwealth.  El martes en la tarde los llevamos a Sir Pizza y ¡Muchacho, como comen!  Tuvimos un tiempo estupendo riendonos y recopilando noticias de casa.  Estos jovenes estan tan felices haciendo lo que ellos creen es la voluntad de Dios para sus vidas.  ¡Nuestra iglesia esta bien orgullosos de ellos.  En el retrato pueden ver de izquierda a derecha a David Ortiz, Danny Ortiz, Jose Valencia, Diana Valencia y Aracely Landeros.  ¡Oremos por nuestros jovenes mientras ellos hacen su mejor en hacer la voluntad de Dios!

Anniversary Conference in Lexington, Kentucky/Conferencia de Aniversario en Lexington, Kentucky

Last Monday, November 8, my wife accompanied me as I flew to Lexington, Kentucky for the third consecutive year to preach for my good friend, Pastor Anhuar Palacios, who pastors the Spanish ministry of the Clays Mill Rd. Baptist Church of Lexington where Dr. Jeff Fugate is the Pastor.  The week long conference was a success with many saved and many decisions from God's people to be better servants of the Lord.  I spoke every night and also gave lectures to the ladies on Tuesday morning and to the men on Thursday morning.  I also had the honor of preaching in the chapel service for Commonwealth Baptist College on Friday morning.  What a great spirit!  Our two sons, Danny and David attend college there along with three other students from our church.  I recommend CBC 150% to anyone considering going to Bible College.

El lunes pasado, noviembre 8, mi esposa me acompaño mientras yo vole a Lexington, Kentucky por el tercer año consecutivo para predicar para mi buen amigo, el Pastor Anhuar Palacios, quien pastorea el ministerio Hispano de la Iglesia Bautista de Clays Mill Rd. donde el Dr. Jeff Fugate es el Pastor.  La conferencia de la semana entera fue un gran exito con muchos salvos y muchas decisiones hechas por el pueblo de Dios para ser mejores siervos del Señor.  Hable todas las noches y tambien di enseñanzas a las damas el martes en la mañana y a los hombres el jueves en la mañana.  Tambien tuve el honor de predicar en el servicio de capilla del Colegio Bautista de Commonwealth el viernes en la mañana.  ¡Que tremendo espiritu!  Nuestros dos hijos, Danny y David, asisten al colegio ahi junto con otros tres estudiantes de nuestra iglesia.  Yo le recomiendo CBC 150% a cualquiera que este considerando ir a un colegio Biblico.

Annual Old Fashion Service/Servicio Anual a la Antigua

Sunday night, November 7, we had our annual old-fashion service.  What a time we had of singing and old fashion preaching!  The service was full and most of our people dressed up for the occassion.  Would God we all return to the old paths of the Old Time Gospel with the preaching and music of the old days!  My long tail tuxedo shrunk from last year.  No comments, please!

El domingo 7 de noviembre tuvimos nuestro servicio anual a la antigua.  ¡Que tiempo tuvimos de cantos y predicacion a la antigua!  El servicio estuvo lleno y la mayoria de las personas se vistieron para la ocasion.  ¡Ojala que pudieramos regresar a las sendas antiguas del Evangelio Antiguo con la predicacion y la musica de los dias antiguos! Mi chaqueta de cola larga se encogio del año pasado.  ¡No comentarios, por favor!

Birthday Celebration/Celebracion de Cumpleaños

This past Sunday my church people surprised me with a birthday celebration.  I discovered America on October 26, 1963!  After the service, our church had a big celebration with food and lots of fellowship.  The church people also gave me many gifts including this beautiful frame with the world map and Matthew 28:19 written on it with letters made of rocks!  My people with the help of my lovely wife got this for me!  Our church knows how mission minded I am and they wanted me to have something in my office that would remind me of the need the world has to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Thank you IBF for the gift, and most of all for your love throughout the years.  I am very honored to be called your Pastor!

Este pasado Domingo la gente de mi iglesia me sorprendieron con una celebracion de cumpleaños.  ¡Yo descubri a America el 26 de octubre de 1963!  Despues del servicio, nuestra iglesia tuvo una celebracion bien grande con comida y mucho compañerismo.  ¡La gente de la iglesia tambien me dieron muchos regalos incluyendo este hermoso cuadro del mapa del mundo con Mateo 28:19 escrito en el con letras hechas de roca!  ¡Mi gente con la ayuda de mi amada esposa me dieron esto!  Nuestra iglesia sabe la mente misionera que tengo y ellos querian que yo tuviera algo en mi oficina que me recordara de la necesidad que tiene el mundo de escuchar el evangelio de Jesucristo.  Gracias IBF por el regalo y sobre todo por el amor a traves de los años.  ¡Me siento honrado de poder ser llamado su Pastor!

Preaching at Lone Star Baptist College/Predicando en el Colegio Bautista de Lone Star

Last Friday, October 29, I had the privilege of preaching in chapel at the Lone Star Baptist College in Mesquite, TX.  LSBC is a ministry of the Parkside Baptist Church, pastored by Dr. Mike Wells.  He has been pastoring this church since February of this year and already they have grown 200 more in Sunday school.  They have added and started several adult Sunday school classes and are planning to add six more in the near future.  Recently they had a big day of over 1,100 in Sunday school.  My son in law and daughter are members of the church.  Jared grew up in this church under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus, Dr. Larry May, who pastored the church for over 25 years.  Elyssa is an alumni of LSBC and Jared will be graduating in May of 2011.  I have preached in many colleges in America and in Spanish countries, and I must admit that LSBC has been one of the places where the spirit is one of the greatest I have ever felt in a place where young people are being trained to work for the Lord.  There is no doubt they stand for truth and right.  A great soul-winning Bible college.  If you are praying for a college to attend, consider praying about going to LSBC!

El viernes pasado, 20 de octubre, tuve el privilegio de predicar en la capilla del Colegio Bautista de Lone Star en Mesquite, TX.  LSBC es un ministerio de la Iglesia Bautista Parkside, pastoreada por el Dr. Mike Wells.  El ha estado pastoreando esta iglesia desde Febrero de este año y ya han crecido 200 mas en la escuela dominical.  Ellos han añadido y comenzado varias clases dominicales de adultos y estan planeando añadir seis mas en el futuro cercano.  Recientemente tuvieron un dia grande de mas de 1,100 en la escuela dominical.  Mi yerno y mi hija son miembros de la iglesia.  Jared crecio en esta iglesia bajo el liderazgo del Pastor Emeritus, Dr. Larry May, quien pastoreo la iglesia por mas de 25 años.  Elyssa es una alumni de LSBC y Jared estara graduando en Mayo del 2011.  Yo he predicado en muchos colegios en America y en paises Hispanos y tengo que admitir que LSBC ha sido uno de los lugares donde el espiritu es uno de los mejores que yo he sentido en un lugar donde jovenes estan siendo entrenados a trabajar para la obra de Dios.  Sin duda ellos se paran por la verdad y lo correcto.  Un magnifico colegio Biblico ganador de almas.  ¡Si estas orando por un colegio a donde asistir, considera orar sobre ir a LSBC!

Friends of a life time/Amigos de la vida

While I was in Greensboro, NC this week I had the opportunity to catch up with a friend from my childhood.  Angel Diaz also grew up in Levittown, Puerto Rico and attended the First Baptist Church of Levittown, pastored by Dr. Hernan Cortes, who went to Heaven a year ago (October 25, 2009).  Angel was a great influence in my life while I attended Hyles-Anderson College.  The last time I saw Angel was in 1984.  He surprised me with a phone call not too long ago.  One of our missionaries on deputation gave him my number.  I'm so glad he called.  Come to find, out Angel lives in Greenville, SC, only 2 1/2 hours away from where I was preaching.  He came Monday night to the service.  We were able to have a meal together and remember old times!  Praise God for the influence of good friends while you are growing up!


Mientras estuve en Greensboro, NC esta semana tuve la oportunidad de encontrarme con un amigo de la infancia.  Angel Diaz tambien crecio en Levittown, Puerto Rico y asistio a la Primera Iglesia Bautista de Levittown, pastoreada por el Dr. Hernan Cortes, quien se fue al Cielo un año atras (Octubre 25, 2009).  Angel fue una gran influencia en mi vida mientras yo asisti el Colegio de Hyles-Anderson.  La ultima vez que yo vi a Angel fue en el 1984.  El me sorprendio con una llamada telefonica no mucho tiempo atras.  Uno de nuestros misioneros en deputacion le dio mi numero.  Estoy tan contento que llamo.  Cuando vine a ver Angel vive en Greenville, SC, solo a 2 1/2 horas de donde yo estaba predicando.  El vino al servicio del lunes en la noche.  ¡Pudimos comer juntos y recordar viejos tiempos!   ¡Gloria a Dios por la influencia de buenos amigos mientras uno esta creciendo!

I went to Greensboro, NC this past Monday and Tuesday to be with my good friend, Pastor Albert Lopez.  Pastor Lopez and I grew up in the same church in Levittown, Puerto Rico.  Every year, for four years now, I have preached a Family Conference in his church, The Open Door Baptist Church.  He has been pastoring that church for 14 years and has built one of the most solid churches in the nation that I know.  He has a strong youth department with over 100 teens.  They average over 400 in Sunday school attendance every week!  It was my privilege to be with him and his people and several pastors and churches from the area were represented in the conference.  They also celebrated my birthday while I was there.  His people surprised me with a suit, three shirts and 4 ties.  Their Rondalla even sang to me their traditional Mexican birthday song with the boys wearing mariachi hats.  Thank you Open Door Baptist Church and Pastor Lopez for making my birthday special!

Fui a Greensboro, NC este pasado Lunes y Martes para estar con mi buen amigo, Pastor Alberto Lopez.  El Pastor Lopez y yo crecimos juntos en la misma iglesia en Levittown, Puert Rico.  Cada año, por cuatro años ya, he predicado una Conferencia de la Familia en su iglesia, La Iglesia Bautista Puerta Abierta.  El ha estado pastoreando la iglesia por 14 años y ha edificado una de las iglesias mas solidas de la nacion que conozco.  El tiene un departamento de jovenes con mas de 100 jovenes.  ¡Ellos tienen mas de 400 en asistencia en la escuela dominical cada semana!  Fue mi privilegio estar con el y su gente y varios pastores y varias iglesias estuvieron representados en la conferencia.  Ellos tambien me celebraron el cumpleaños mientras estuve ahi.  Su gente me sorprendio con un traje, tres camisas y cuatro corbatas.  Su Rondalla aun me cantaron su cancion tradicional Mexicana de cumpleaños con los muchachos usando sombreros de mariachi.  ¡Gracias Iglesia Bautista Puerta Abierta y Pastor Lopez por hacer mi cumpleaños especial!

Missionary Jose Alavarado and his family/Misionero Jose ALvarado y su familia

This is missionary Jose Alvarado and his family in San Lucas, Sacatepequez, Guatemala.  I was able to be with him and his church last Wednesday through Friday for a leadership workshop during the days and a family conference at night.  We have been supporting Bro. Alvarado for almost two years and praise the Lord, our investment has not been in vain.  This is a great work!  He has been pastoring his church for 18 years.  God has blessed him with great people and the Lord is using this family to reach the people of the town of San Lucas.  Praise the Lord for our missionaries!  We had over 70 in the leadership sessions with 8 pastors and their workers present.  At night many decisions were made and God met with us in a special way.

Este es misionero Jose Alvarado y su familia en Sal Lucas, Sacatepequez, Guatemala.  Pude estar con el y su iglesia el pasado miercoles a viernes para un taller de liderazgo durante el dia y una conferencia de la familia en las noches.  Hemos sostenido al Hermano Alvarado por casi dos años y gloria a Dios, nuestra inversion no ha sido en vano.  ¡Esta es una gran obra!  El ha estado pastoreando su iglesia por 18 años.  Dios lo ha bendecido con una gente magnifica y el Señor esta usando a esta familia para alcanzar a la gente del pueblo de San Lucas.  ¡Gloria a Dios por nuestros misioneros!  Tuvimos mas de 70 en las sesiones de liderazgo con 8 pastores y sus obreros.  En la noche muchas decisiones fueron hechas y Dios se reunio con nosotros enuna manera especial.

Flying To Caracas From Baquisimeto/Volando A Caracas Desde Barquisimeto

Last night I flew from Barquisimeto to Caracas, Venezuela.  There I stayed at the Hotel La Parada and spent a short night.  This morning I was up at 2:30 a.m. Venezuela time, took the shuttle bus to the airport and my flight left at 6:45 a.m. to Miami.  I arrived in Miami, went through immigration and customs, and took my flight to Tampa, Florida.  I am now at the Tampa International airport waiting for my DFW flight.  It is delayed 1 hour and 15 minutes.  It's been a long day and I can't wait to be home!  Nonetheless, what an amazing week this has been!  The National Baptist Conference was a great success.  God met with us in a special way!  Over 500 people attended the night services and probably 250 of those attended the day sessions with at least 20 to 25 of those being Pastors and Assistant Pastors.  The picture is of the plane I took to Caracas last night!  Pray for Venezuela!  I believe the people there are hungry for the gospel and God can bring a revival to that country.

Anoche vole desde Barquisimeto a Caracas, Venezuela.  Ahi me quede en el Hotel La Parada y pase una corta noche.  Esta mañana me levante a las 2:30 a.m. hora de Venezuela, tome el transporte del hotel al aeropuerto y mi vuelo salio a las 6:45 hacia Miami.  Llegue a Miami, pase por migracion y aduana, y tome mi vuelo a Tampa, Florida.  Ahora mismo estoy en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Tamapa esperando por mi vuelo a DFW.  Esta atrazado una hora y 15 minutos.  ¡Ha sido un dia largo y no puedo esperar a estar en casa!  No obstante, ¡Que sorprendente semana ha sido!  La Conferencia Nacional Bautista fue de gran exito.  ¡Dios se reunio con nosotros en una manera especial!  Mas de 500 personas asisitieron a los servicios de la noche y probalemente 250 de esos asistieron a las sesiones del dia con por lo menos de 20 a 25 de esos siendo Pastores y Asistentes de Pastores.  ¡El retrato es del avion que tome para Caracas anoche!  ¡Oren por Venezuela!   Yo creo que la gente tiene hambre del evangelio y que Dios puede traer un avivamiento a ese pais.

Missionaries Jose Luis And Adriana Fuentes/Misioneros Jose Luis Y Adriana Fuentes

Missionary Jose Luis Fuentes is in Bocono, Venezuela as a missionary to the poeple of that part of the country.  He is one of the 42 missionaries our church supports.  I met Bro. Fuentes in a youth conference in La Capilla, Jalisco, near Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico over three years ago.  Since then God has knitted our hearts and we have been supporting him.  He is doing a great work!  He came to the National Baptist Conference and I was able to share the platform with him yesterday evening.  He preached the first sermon of the night and what a great job he did!  He preached on the subject of missions.  He and his wife have four children - Aaron, who is in the picture with them.  He is 6 years old.  They also have Abraham, who is 8 years old, Isaac, who is 5 years old, and Sara, who is 4 years old.  Thank God for our missionaries!

Misionero Jose Luis Fuentes esta en Bocono, Venezuela como misionero a las personas de esa parte del pais.  El es uno de los 42 misioneros que nuestra iglesia sostiene.  Yo conoci al Hermano Fuentes en una conferencia de jovenes en La Capilla, Jalisco cerca de Guadalajara, Jalisco en Mexico mas de tres años atras.  Desde ese entonces Dios ha unido nuestros corazones y lo hemos sostenido.  ¡El esta haciendo un buen trabajo!  El vino a la Conferencia Nacional Bautista y tuve la oportunidad de compartir la plataforma con el ayer en la noche.  El predico el primer mensaje de la noche y ¡que gran trabajo hizo!  El predico sobre el tema de misiones.  El y su esposa tienen cuatro hijos - Aaron, quien esta con ellos en la foto.  El tiene 6 años.  Tienen tambien a Abraham, quien tiene 8 años, Isaac, quien tiene 5 años y a Sara quien tiene 4 años.  ¡Gracias a Dios por nuestros misioneros!

Pastors And Wives' Session/La Sesion De Pastores Y Esposas

Every day in the National Baptist Conference in Barquisimeto, Venezuela we've had a session for the Pastors and their wives.  Here we see a group of them right before I was to teach this morning.  I taught on Principles for Marriage.  We had a great time!  Thank God for these dear laborers and colaborers in Christ doing a great work in all of Venezuela.  The conference has been a great success and my heart has been blessed.  Thank God for His grace!

Todos los dias en la Conferencia Nacional Bautista en Barquisimeto, Venezuela hemos tenido una sesion para los Pastores y sus esposas.  Aqui vemos un grupo de ellos justo antes de yo enseñar esta mañana.  Enseñe sobre Principios para el Matrimonio.  ¡Tuvimos un buen tiempo!  Gracias a Dios por estos queridos obreros y colaboradores en Cristo que hacen una gran obra en todo Venezuela.  La conferencia ha sido de gran exito y mi corazon ha sido bendecido.  ¡Gracias a Dios por Su gracia!

Francisco Vargas, Host Pastor Of The National Baptist Conference/Francisco Vargas, Pastor Anfitrion De La Conferencia Nacional Bautista

Pastor Francisco Vargas is the Pastor of the Holy Bible Baptist Church in Barquisimeto, Venezuela where the National Baptist Conference is being held this year.  I had the privilege of meeting Pastor Vargas last year when I preached in the same conference, but held in Maracay, Venezuela.  Pastor Vargas has been pastoring the church for 12 years and they average 800 in Sunday School.  Right now they are praying for God to help them find land so they can build a bigger auditorium.  This church has a great impact in this town and the whole country.  The conference this year has an attendance of over 500 at night, over 250 during the day sessions and over 25 pastors and full-time Christian workers.  This week I will have the privilege of preaching 13 times by the time the conference is over.  Some of those times is teaching in the Pastors' Sessions.  It has been a wonderful blessing to be with these dear friends and colaborers in the ministry.  Thank God for His grace!

El Pastor Francisco Vargas es el Pastor de la Iglesia Bautista La Santa Biblia en Barquisimeto, Venezuela donde la Conferencia Nacional Bautista se esta llevando a cabo.  Tuve el privilegio de conocer al Pastor Vargas el año pasado cuando predique en la misma conferencia, pero tenida en Maracay, Venezuela.  El Pastor Vargas ha pastoreado esta iglesia por 12 años y tienen un promedio de 800 en la escuela dominical.  Ahora mismo ellos estan orando para que Dios los ayude a conseguir un terreno donde construir un auditorio mas grande.  Esta iglesia tiene un impacto es este pueblo y en el pais entero.  La conferencia este año tiene mas de 500 en asistencia en las noches, mas de 250 durante las sesiones del dia y mas de 25 pastores y obreros de tiempo completo.  Esta semana tendre el privilegio de predicar 13 veces para el tiempo que la conferencia termine.  Algunas de esas veces es enseñando en la sesiones de los Pastores.  Ha sido una hermosa bendicion poder estar con estos queridos amigos y colaboradores en el ministerio.  ¡Gracias a Dios por Su gracia!

Over 20 Surrendered To Full-Time Service/Mas de 20 Se Riden Al Tiempo Completo

Tonight was the second night of the National Baptist Conference in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.  The attendance was even bigger tonight.  It was literally standing room only!  I preached the sermon "God Has Made Me A Watchman On The Wall."  At the invitation more than 20 surrendered to be in full-time service.  (I cut some out of the picture, sorry!)  What a glorious night tonight was!  The Lord met with us.  I just wish you could have seen it!

Esta noche fue la segunda noche de la Conferencia Nacional Bautista en Barquisimeto, Venezuela.  La asistencia fue aun mas grande esta noche.  Literalmente solo habia cupo para gente de pie.  Predique el mensaje "Dios Me Ha Puesto Por Atalaya."  En la invitacion mas de 20 se rindieron para estar en el tiempo completo.  (Corte a algunos del retrato, ¡lo siento!)  ¡Que noche gloriosa fue esta noche!  El Señor se reunio con nosotros.  ¡Solo deseo que hubiesen podido haberlo visto!

National Baptist Conference in Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Conferencia Nacional Bautista en Barquisimeto, Venezuela

Today I flew all day to get to Venezuela for the National Baptist Conference.  This is my second year coming to preach!  I arrived in Caracas at 3:00 pm and after an hour with immigration and customs I went to the domestic flights to catch a flight to Barquisimeto, one of the biggest cities in Venezuela.  I missed the 4:00 flight so I had to wait until the 7:30 flight, which would arrive at 8:15.  From there I was to be taken straight to church to preach the second sermon.  Well, my flight was delayed and I arrived close to 9:00.  When Pastor Ramos picked me up he told me the people were still waiting and were going to sing until I got there.  I couldn't believe it!  I made it to the church close to 9:30 and went up to preach.  Those dear people waited and were so sweet in the reception they gave me.  The crowd was incredible!  There are several hundreds attending the conference with more coming tomorrow.  After the sermon the altar was packed with so many people making decisions.  Praise the Lord for His grace!

Hoy viaje todo el dia para llegar a Venezuela para la Conferencia Nacional Bautista.  ¡Este es mi segundo año viniendo a predicar!  Llegue a Caracas a las 3:00 pm y despues de una hora con migracion y aduana fui a los viajes nacionales para tomar mi vuelo a Barquisimeto, una de las ciudades mas grandes de Venezuela.  Perdi el vuelo de las 4:00 asi que tuve que esperar al vuelo de las 7:30, que llegaria a las 8:15.  De ahi seria llevado directo a la iglesia para predicar el segundo mensaje.  Bueno, mi vuelo se atrazo y llegue casi a las 9:00.  Cuando el Pastor Ramos me recogio me dijo que la gente estaba todavia esperando y que iban a seguir cantando hasta que yo llegara.  ¡No lo pude creer!  Llegue a la iglesia casi a las 9:30 y subi a predicar.  Esos hermanos queridos esperaron y fueron tan dulces en la recepcion que me dieron.  ¡La multitud fue increible!  Hay cientos asistiendo a la conferencia con mas llegando mañana.  Despues del sermon el altar estaba lleno con muchas personas haciendo decisiones.  ¡Gloria a Dios por Su gracia!

Pastor Martinez Preaching In Our Church/El Pastor Martinez Predicando En Nuestra Iglesia

We had a wonderful day today!  In the morning God gave us 345 in attendance and 5 professions with two following the Lord in baptism.  Then at night we had Pastor Martinez from Puerto Rico preach.  God used him greatly not only in our church tonight, but also in the Mens' Retreat this week.  Also tonight our Mens' Rondalla sang the special before the message and they did a great job!

¡Tuvimos un dia maravilloso hoy!  En la mañana Dios nos dio 345 en asistencia y 5 profesiones con dos siguiendo al Señor en el bautismo.  Luego en la noche tuvimos al Pastor Martinez de Puerto Rico predicando.  Dios lo uso grandemente no solo en nuestra iglesia esta noche, sino tambien en el Retiro de los Varones esta semana.  Tambien esta noche nuestra Rondalla de varones canto el especial antes del mensaje e ¡hicieron un gran trabajo!
